It would cost more that the standard cable. At least that is how it usually goes
Agreed DSJ, prices would be higher I imagine. Also thought about FF locations differ as well as ducers. :dono
Every thing u read says u can't splice cable I find that hard to believe but can't risk it.
Could be a good business if u had the tec. To remove plug end Shorten and replace.
It gets to be a pain wadding up all that extra cable stuffing it in unseen compartments and under decks when theyre already full of wiring harnesses. Man! It looks like chinese powerlines where all my batteries are stored.:yikes

I would think that unless it is a proprietary plug to that brand FF. Then you can find a plug and shorten the cable. There are a vast amount of cable ends out there to choose from. A cable can also be spliced. I am fairly certain it is a sheilded cable and likely twisted pairs to prevent cross interference. The biggest issue would be finding out the pin out configuration for the connector.
Wish I had your knowledge about electronics dude some of the stuff u said over me head.
Got to break it down for 60 year old machinest.
Depends on the unit.
3 wire older 200mhz flashers you could peel back the black cable jacket to expose the black and red and braided wires.
Then shorten and resolder to the connector pins.
What exactly is the unit model number?
I got the garmin striker 7 plus sv I am putting on bow
😁😁😁😁😁😁
Sooooooo. back to the question. What would be the make and model or your fishfinder. ???
If you need help with some soldering I will be in Charlotte visiting family mid march.
Taking a break from ice fishing lol. Attachment 419540
That appears to be a 12 pin molded plug transducer. ?
I have myself the Garmin 93sv , similar configuration, and I doubt I would attempt to shorten the 25 ft factory transducer cable .
Garmin does offer a “wire junction block “for owners who have a damaged / severed cable above the water line .
Allows you to essentially splice the two cable ends inside a waterproof housing
Have a look. You might want to confirm with Garmin first

Sounds like it would be a risk vs reward decision. If my cable was severed I would consider the block.
Another option might be get a cheaper fishfinder for the bow mount. Keep your expensive gps fishfinder at the pilots helm?
