Murray 2-16

Did something today I haven't done in a long time. I went crappie fishing. I picked up Satoma about 9:30 this morning and after a short stop for minners we headed up the little saluda looking for some fish. Found a lot of boats so we joined them. Usually I troll but today we tight lined. Fish were around 15 ft deep in 20 ft of water. We were using minnows. Console depth finder decided to take the day off and refused to work. Didn't set the world on fire but we managed to put 8_decent fish in the live well for a nice meal for Satoma. Least we didn't get skunked.

8 is better than an empty box. Glad you got out

I took the pontoon instead of the champion because it only called for 5 to 10. It blew 15 to 20 which made for a challenging day. Tomorrow they are calling for 10 to 20 so it will be 20 and above. We caught the fish from 10 to 15 deep in 20_ft of water.

Any day on the water with fished boated is a great day in my book

At least it is a start as to what's to ahead. Glad you got out and had company. Thanks for the report.

Glad to read youre back on the water again Don. Congrats on the fish you guys caught. I hope you did well and thoroughly enjoyed your day. The fish turning on is just right around the corner now. It's all up to Mother Nature to give us a string of nice warm (and windless) days now.

Like Butch said it is good to see that you are back on the water. This wind lately has been unpredictable.

Nice job! I think im going to Hartwell on Sunday. Havent even had the boat out in over a month!

Looking at all the long range forecasts here and the surrounding areas that I fish tells me I might as well get used to the wind blowing. Only way to beat it is to get out there at first light on the days that aint so cold. With age it seems I dont wanna get out the house in freezing temperatures anymore.:(

Butch you are so right about the wind. I got the fix for that. I parked the pontoon for a while and will start fishing out of my boat. The wind does not effect it at all. Thinking seriously about selling the pontoon this spring and just go back to 2 boats.

There’s a pros and cons list for both. One the days it’s not windy, a toon sure is comfy…. [emoji106]
