After putting an hour meter on my Yamaha, I found out how little I actually run my big motor. I would definitely give one of those consideration if I'm looking at a new motor in the future.

Certainly an interesting concept. I also like how they call it zero direct emmisions.
Couple of the smaller city lakes I fish there are tournaments where only electric motors are allowed. You should hear the ones with just the juiced up trolling motors...lol. Couple of them have some bigger nice electric motors.
seen a few BIG custom electric motors on an all electric lake back when , some of them looked like beasts on the backs of large pontoons
I read a article that some port was using electric tugs to move the boats and barges around. Will be interesting to see how technology advances in this area
I work for a manufacturer of automotive components. I am in the exhaust gas division. They are looking at transitioning into a market that is more electrified.
I prefer the Merc 600hp V12.
Imagine what ramp parking lots are going to look like with all those chargers sitting there, for the people camping on the water for a weekend. Or run out of juice while enjoying water sports, future new business on the water charging, instead of just a gas can a generator and charger on board a boat to service stranded boaters..
Zero direct emissions, that is a California term. California claims zero carbon on the electricity they use that comes from other states. This is technically true if you follow the term "direct". They have no direct impact on their local environment, but have a heavy impact one the states they get their electricity from. Depending on who you talk to California imports 25% to 40% of their electricity. Importing electricity is great for your local carbon footprint, but is bad for the exporter.
That would be just like the electric car rescue services that are delivered by a diesel truck with a diesel generator to recharge them.
If they are so anti petroleum, why do they have rubber tires and drive on paved roads (all petroleum based) ???
I jus keep thinkn “How is our electric generating capacity and distribution gonna keep up with everything going electric?”
and if it dont start raining a whole lot out West real quik, there about to find out how much electricity they dont have!!
Not too mention the environmental impact to mine the materials to make the batteries. Then there is disposal, or rather lack there-of. This is a get rich scheme for politicians, and other special interests. I ain't buying it. I don't even own battery powered tools.
Ok, let’s not make this political please. This was meant as an info post not to spur debate on electric vs fossil fuels.
If one was to become feasible within my years left I’ve got to fish I would get one. Several lakes I love to fish are electric only. While I fish them in spring….summer and early fall….I’ve got to get pretty deep in the water to put my boat on the trailer. Part of that is because of the ramp angle and the way my trailer is made. Fishing them in winter is out….not just for me but many others as well. Electric vehicles are here and I am sure someday boat motors will be here also. GM has already announced they will be all electric by 2035. TN just got the factory for building the charging stations that will be installed around the US….30,000 a year. I read somewhere in a couple of years there will be more charging stations than gas stations. Like it or not it’s coming. Sooner or later they’ll get the charging time down to 20 minutes or so and a 500 mile range. Many a day I get off the river at Nickajack and go into Jasper to get something to eat and there is a Tesla charging station there. They can get a 200 mile charge in 20 minutes. I’m sure in a few years you might have the same for boat motors.

I am too old to worry about any of it.
