My brother Jim, or Stone Mountain Crappie, is down for a few days. Thought I would post a teaser. Shad in the morning and crappie in the afternoon. More when we get out again.

I hate to say this as I’m not in the habit of disappointing but there wasn’t a picture taken yesterday or today. Both days were kinda lackluster with just a few fish taken and none kept. This morning about 8:30 we returned to Saturday’s location and tried for a repeat performance. While we caught fish at both places, the old saying that you can’t go back rang true. 1 Shad broke my line at boatside, a victim of a drag too tight. Only 1 other came to the boat and then we got no more interest and decided to go see about some crappie.
Once again we could have eaten well from what we caught but it wouldn’t have been a feast by any means. Each of us landed a good 12” fish and a few of their smaller cousins. The many fish we found Saturday had moved on somewhere with no forwarding address. We tooled around til about 3, not wanting to give up. The day had warmed some and the wind had laid down but the fishing had just slowed and we decided to head for home. Jim had developed a cough and we decided not to go to the coast for some sheepshead. Some charger issues also had me less than coonfident in the trolling motors ability to keep up with the constant current where we would have gone. Better safe. It’s been a great visit and I can’t wait til the next time we get to enjoy this, maybe I’ll take it on the road to his neighborhood. Thanks for all the responses and for following along, I’ve enjoyed the time fishing and having Jim by my side as we were when we were growing up and afterward when we were roomies. Til I get a chance to get out again…….Skeet.
Hey Tim, looks like your brother was holding a herring we caught 4 of them last week. Caught 18 mostly white shad right where you were fishing.
It was a good morning Andy. We got about 20 of those, all on two pound line. The words were screaming drag!
Nice Tim, looks like 1 + 1(You/bro) does equal 2(Crappie/Shad)!:cheers2
How deep is the water now Jim?
15 feet and rising. lol
