Was not sure where to do this thread..........
Do we have anybody who does wood work? Maybe put up some pics of your projects?
I tinker in the wood shop alot. Build custom rustic tables. Lately I have been using wood from a 100ish year old barn.

I built this from a 100 + YO barn, right down to the metal roof. I have plenty of lumber left for other stuff.

The last two...... I have one more to build. Maybe two.... The second one would be 13' long if they confirm.
Attachment 417623, I do wood turning, this vase's walls are about 5/16 thick. I also made the Murphy bed behind the vase
This is probably my 'pride and joy'. 6'8" tall 24" wide, six shelves. Stained white oak with the backing board being 1/4" birch-sheathed plywood inset into rabbit joints on the sides-top-bottom and stained to match. Shelves are partially inset into dado joints that don't reach the front of the side panels. Glue and screws for final assembly
Built this sucker 25 years ago and haven't had to tighten/adjust anything since...and it's gotten moved around the house a lot in that time.

Don't have pics (lost them somewhere) but around the same time, I built a friend a set of three book-case style DVD racks. 4' tall, shelf height and depth to fit DVDs...solid walnut with clear-coat, backing board same as I did for the bookcase.
He's still got them, and still uses them for his DVDs and Blu-Rays.
From time to time I work with wood and metal

10×10 shipping timbers resawn and turned into these end tables. No screws or nails only glue and dowels. Strong enough to stand on top of. Top was planed flat by hand
The only thing I have successfully made from wood is sawdust.
I have full woodshop in the a 12x16 building. About 80% of the furniture in my house was built by me. I seldom build anything now days because the house is full. I still enjoy spending time in the shop.
OUTSTANDING work, all of you. I can’t drive a nail straight. Very nice craftsmanship!:ThumbsUp

I forgot to mention that my friend was stationed in Hawaii So I made the pen from Koa wood which grows in Hawaii and is very hard to get as it is a protected tree. Only dead branches or trees can be harvested.

Great work. I hope to get that good someday

All it takes is practice, which means you have to ruin a lots of wood. lol. You'll get there as you do more.
Thank you.

I have been trying to figure out a jig tying table for a while. I have to have a picture in my head before I sacrifice the wood on the alter that looks like a table saw. Needs to be light and mobile, adjustable height for what ever chair I wanna use, built in storage for supplies, etc. And I don't want to buy anything to male it.
I have a metal lathe in the shop. It isn't fast enough for wood. I need to pick up a small wood lathe
I carved these 3 fish this winter.Attachment 417786
Beautiful carvings, Chris.:ThumbsUp Very nice craftsmanship.

You all are just amazing! Love seeing all the great work!! Congrats!!
Very nice Chris. I had visions of doing a whole crappie carving this winter but sickness and other factors intervened. Still on the to-do list.
