This bird named Gerald hangs out daily waiting to be given fish. The longer between fish the more he fusses and squawks. Named after an old cranky crappie fisherman.Attachment 417352

Cool! Like a pet!

We got one like that here - nicknamed 'Heronetta'...she hangs around waiting for someone to toss a sunny up on the bank for her.

They get used to getting handouts pretty quick. The funny thing is to see how insistent they get when it is someone that doesn't understand they are used to getting a handout.

I like having them close and being friendly. I grew up feeding the birds all the time, especially in the tough cold months. But I had an owl try to take my fish from me. I moved and he moved with me. And him with razors on his hands. Mmmmmmmmmm………..

I do like to see them fly off with their meal in those talons

I was feeding one fish one day and I was amazed at the amount of fish he ate before seemingly getting his belly full. I read an article one time where it said at times they struggle to find food and will gorge themselves. I hate when I am fishing and see a bald eagle fly by with a bigger game fish than what I am catching lol. It is a beautiful sight.

we fed one for grins when my daughter was with me one day
he just ate and ate and ate them bluegill and never quit
amazing appetite for sure ,with an endless want for more .
we quit at around 20 fish and he still wanted more :dono

They are hungry birds for sure
