Does anyone know what the difference is between drill battery packs & a standard lithium battery? Garmin told me that drill packs could damage livescope. Why is this?

I’m not sure, but I bet it has something to do with regulating the voltage going in to the unit! I run my helix and Garmin regular graphs off of dewalt batteries but I use a voltage reducer.

That would be my thoughts as well. It is likely a warning to not use unregulated voltage. Otherwise the graph should not be able to tell 12 volts from one battery or the other.
I have been using 20v DeWalts for nearly 2 years, the guy at Garmin support told me that as long as it did not exceed 24v its all fine..... but maybe something changed?
Tobsun! I use these on my boat. 24v to 12v ! Attachment 415686

This is what I use for mine! Both items available on Amazon as well as the additional quick connect wires.

I use the 30ah amp lithium. Love the battery but my livescope is portable.
I also use Millwaukee power tool batteries that are 20v. Garmin said they were fine just dont exceed 24v. Some people actually feel that the livescope pictures are better with higher voltage, not too sure about that.
My Garmin UHD 73 will run all day, 8 hrs. My HB Helix will run about 7 hrs. I keep extra batteries on the boat. I like for less weight and space

Thanks I think I am going to order a couple of those voltage step downs..
Quick tip, order more than you want! You will use them again for something else! [emoji16]

The only time to be a little careful using 20 volt drill batteries is when they first come off the charger as they can push over 24 volts. Normally after they sit for a day or two they will settle in closer to 20 volts.

I added a separate battery and charger with a cut off switch just for my livescope, works great for me.

I ended up going with a 19ah 14volt NMC from amped outdoors. Says 12 hours easy so that suited me fine.
