It does work but it is not waxed and absorbs water. aaaaathen when it dries it shrinks and becomes difficult to slip when you want to move it. It's best on braid but poor for mono or poly. Or at least that is my experience.
Well that eliminated it for bobber stops. What about for tying flies and using a drop of Head cement on when layering feathers and chenille.? I have used a lot of Danville 3/0 flat waxed nylon, but I was thinking of experimenting with other things.Quote:

It works well on jigs. especially my 3/8 to 1 ounce walleye jigs with bucktail. Never tried it on small jigs though . Remember it will shrink after being wet and could cut fibers it is wrapping.
I was also thinking of using a candle or chapstick and rubbing it on the thread as I tie the fly and using a toothpick to add a tiny drop of Loctite as I tie the fly.

I always use cement, I know true fly folks say that is not necessary but I do as I do not use whip finisher so I use head cement and don't look back. Another thing I do as I am a heavy handed tier, I use Kevlar thread 90% of the time. No breakage ever.

I use 20# braid to fish with, when I change it I wrap it on a bobbin and use it to tie jigs. Fish don't seem to care and it's recycled to go back in a brush pile.

Used it for flies and jigs. For flies, I use it as a body material on really small flies or as a head on others. I'll also use it to make caddis fly larva and stacked hair. For jigs, I use it to build a holding layer for plastics at the head of jigs with no collar and barb. A couple good ridges built up seems to hold a plastic fairly well. I also use it to tie off jigs when I want a collar behind the head of a different color. An egg sucking leech pattern with a complimentary color to the head like a red head with an orange or pink collar.
I'm gonna have to test it out for bobber stops
