I wear it all the time when fishing, under big motor power, or generally any time I am on the water. I have even worn it on over water construction that I was project managing on. The Mustang MIT A/M has a robust inflation system and seems to be better in the rain. I have been in very strong wind blown 1 inch or better an hour rain on a construction project and it did not accidently inflate. However, I would make attempts to keep it dry when storing it. I do not work for Mustang nor receive any endorsements from them. I have given these vests to my father-in-law (who has fallen out of the boat conscious), my uncle, and my wife. They are comfortable and worth every penny. Bass Pro and Cabelas have them on the rack for you to try on. This is just my opinion and thanks for reading it. Stay safe on the water.
