Wateree 12-13-21

Very cold and fog on the water this morning until about 9 AM. Trolled the main channel from Clearwater towards Colonel creek waiting for the fog to lift. Picked up 6 with only 1 being over 21". Then the fog lifts and it was on for the rest of the morning. Caught many fish up on the flats with a couple being a little better than 10 lbs. Another great day on wateree. We were trolling A-rigs and double swim jigs on lead core. The birds were a little active but there was a boat that kept running up on the schools so never a chance for top water action. That seems to happen every time I fish that lake. Some people just don't have a clue I guess.

Sounds like a great trip Tev. Congrats on your catch. I always feel a bit uneasy when the fog is thick on the water. There's always some idiot out there that thinks they can run WOT using their electronics when they cant see.

I know how you feel about boats running up on schooling fish. You need to buy yourself a sling shot and bean the crap out of them. I got one that I'm going to put on my pontoon for the wake boarders and jet skiers. If a fight starts, then I got something else to for that too. :highfive

These are our fish from yesterday. This was my cousins biggest fish ever so you can imagine how happy she was. With this load of fish we were able to put some fish in a few of our church members freezers who aren't able to get out and fish much. Will be strictly catch and release for the next few months which is my favorite way to fish. Don't have to worry about ice or coolers or cleaning fish. Just fun on the water.

I probably saw a few of you crappie.comer's but I don't know anyone personally. I'm heading that way again tomorrow and will be in a dark gray Key West center console. We'll be trolling so give a wave and I'll do the same. Be safe on the water and happy fishing. Attachment 414398Attachment 414399

Great catch! You right there was several Crappie.Com folks in that area. We were in the red Lund that was just stirring the water. Still had fun just gettin out.

I remember seeing the red Lund. Looks like we were all in the same area for at least part of the day. Guess I need to try harder to participate in some of these crappie.com get togethers. I always seem to have to work or something comes up. Maybe I can make the next one and put a face to some of these names on here.

Good luck this weekend cwright. I've caught 90% of my fish lately around colonel creek. I'll give a report good or bad and let you know how tomorrow goes. FYI I've tinkered with my trolling speed some going from 2.5 down to 2.0 and I can't really tell a difference in how many fish I catch. Been having really good days no matter the speed. My trolling batteries like 2.0 better lol.

That would be nice if you could. We do have fun at the ramp prior and after fishing. In April we will be having our Spring Fest at Ebenezer Park on Lake Wylie so get that marked down as a must to be there. I hope to meet you before then though. :highfive

I figured when trolling 2 mph you were using the big motor. How log does your batts last pushing 'em hat hard? I aint even sure my boat will troll at 2 mph using the trolling motor. I never tried. On a good cast how deep do those A-rigs run at that speed?

I have the Garmin Force trolling motor wired up for 24v with 2 lithium batteries. I generally use the trolling motor with the wind and the big motor against the wind to save battery so not sure how long it will last at that speed. The batteries have lasted 8 hrs at 1.5 mph trolling crankbaits for crappie in the summer. That trolling motor is powerful. I tested it when I first installed it and it pushed my 17.6' center console 4.3 mph with minimum wind. I love it.
