I have 8 bottles of caney creek x2 colorants and 2 of them settled into a hard mass on the bottom. I have managed to work them a little but some of the pigment is still in a large lump in the bottle. Is there anything I can do to get the rest of it to disperse or am I just gonna have to buy replacements?
Several of Do-It/candy Creek colorants hard pack and need shook periodically to prevent this. I use to put a couple stainless steel nuts in my bottles to make it like a rattle can. I’d give this a shot. Also you might heat some water and then take off heat source. Then submerge bottle to warm colorant.
I do the same thing by adding ball bearings to the bottle and shake it quite often to keep it from hard packing.
I have been working it and shaking it for 3 days and making progress, but I love the idea to put nuts or bearing in there to help break it up. Thank you both!
All the bottles sat for years without being touched, probably like 8 years, thankfully only 2 of them settled really bad.
Lol you’re welcome. Old school trick with them colorants. I probably have 15 do it colorants in garage I haven’t touched in two years and probably a 1/3 hard pack.Quote:

The hot water seems to have done the trick. It took a while after heating it for it to thicken up to where I think it should be but it seems all is good now.
I would have tried the microwave but I couldn't get the stainless steel nuts out of the bottles!

I drop a small egg sinker in the bottle and some worm oil. That works for me. If needed I heat some water in the microwave then take it out and set it on a desk. Then it is safe to put the bottle of colorant in it with the egg sinker and worm oil in the hot water for 20-30 seconds and then shake it again.Quote:

I do the same as you Mike by adding warm oil we’ve also cut the containers if it’s too hard pack and put it into a small jar and add the warm oil. We also use the coloring that they use and soap in add warm oil to it . I believe it’s the same method that they used to make regular colors for plastic making or should I say soft plastics.Quote:

These are what I use in all my dyes/colorants. Seems to work well.
Some of mine are so thick how do you even shake them?
Guys there are quite a few different companies that you could buy your coloring from. lure craft bait plastic MF Plastic both or just a few we could add more Hope this is a help to you guys that are having problems with your coloring getting too thick.
bait plastics also has the little battery powered colorant stirring thing that works pretty good for small bottles.
