Would you polish aluminum boat, and if so, any suggestions on product?
I have watched some videos on YouTube of folks polishing pontoons.

If you want it bright, mirrored shiny, use Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish. Don't forget your sunglasses when you go fishing. I tried that on part of the first boat I bought 5 years ago. IMHO it was just too much. Ended up acid washing it. Makes it a milky colored but eliminates all stains.

I use a rotary buffer to polish aluminum; this device makes it straightforward to restore an aluminum boat’s natural beauty with minimal effort. If you want your boat to be bright, you can use 3M’s Marine Aluminum Restorer and Polish, which is recommended by most experts for maximum results.
The brightener or acid wash actually removes an outside layer of the metal and leaves a fresh but more pitted surface behind. That in turn oxidizes faster and has you using the acid again but sooner and the process continues. Polishing with a buffer smooths the metal and removes any oxidation. Do this and add a coat of GOOD wax or shark hide polymer after and it will last much longer. Fuel tanks on rigs done this way last months but the acid might make a month and looks dull again.
Polishing aluminum is one of the nastiest jobs there is ( using a high speed buffer ) cover everything and make sure you are in the shade. If out in the Sun it will about bake the residue on the aluminum making it tough to clean off.
I know the brightener or acid wash is really harmful when polishing the boat. However you should use a clear coat to safeguard the aluminum boat’s original finished look.
