Made Pillhead tool

I posted about my making Pillhead jigs ..... And it was a bit crude. Maybe this tool is also crude. But my first attempt was a bit oblong and not at all round. But it did form an interesting head.
So I pressed two more, a 1/32, and a 1/16. The 1/16 is round, but looking at it from the edge...it's in a wedge shape. The 1/32 was as good as I had hoped for.
My intention was to have a way to have cheaper pillhead styled jigs.
My first attempt will need fine tuning. The angle is because the grommet jaws are designed to work against each other and not have the convex top of the screws in place. In the photo, the screws are pulled out for viewing.

I love it! Maybe rotate jig when you press to even it out? Press so much then let off and rotate jig and press again. Keep doing this but at different angles on the head until desired results.

I would not flatten the heads as much as you have. 6mm eyes are pretty large for 1/32 heads. 4mm would be better choice for 1/32 and 4 or 5mm for 1/16th IMHO!

I’m typically 5mm for 1/16oz, 6mm for 1/8oz and 7mm for 1/4oz. Now not to say I wouldn’t go bigger if I could.

I have a reason for the big eyes.
And I understand and appreciate the advice of using different eye sizes for different jig size. I kinda like the look of the big Moon Eye for these smaller jigs. I have placed smaller eyes on 1/32, and for me, I'm unimpressed with it. I ha e also put the same size eye on a 1/64 jig. I guess maybe this might actually be my signature style. If it doesn't work to interest a fish, it might just be that the human factor of seeking a "different" lure that no fish has seen, that gives a fisherman that "edge" of confidence.

Oh I’m with you. I put the biggest eye possible on a head. What makes yours different is they are smashed more making the side profile bigger therefore you can place bigger eyes than what you typically could. I’ve done this in years past too. I was just listing typical eye size for heads.

And that is an idea that I could use. But I'm already about to change the plier jaw, so the heads of the screw convex surface is at the same location as the jaw is when the screw isn't causing contact. Remove the screws and the jaws close face to face evenly. So, removing the face of the jaws to compensate for the dimension of the added screw head should get me a proper alignment when I'm pressing the head flat. The one thing I've improved on is the perfect circle of the profile. Before, sometimes, the head wasn't round, viewed from the side.

I wonder how well something like that would work? Might give more even and easier results. Do a search for grommet tool

From what I see, it would offer a better and easier pressing of the lead heads. More leverage than what the pliers with the short handles, I've been using. Thanks for showing that.

I spent a little time working the grommet pliers jaws down to make alignment of the two mating surfaces to be parallel with each other. It was very close! Close enuf, that I made up some 1/16 & 1/32. I painted them. I put eyes on a 1/16 & 1/32. Then, I put a coat of UV resin on them. But again, I was fighting with the short handles. So, I got a pair of Vice Grips and put them into use to help with the compressing of the round ball jigs.
