More Gulp Minnow Action

I see others are using the 1" Gulp Minnows lately. I've been using these quite a bit in recent years. They catch everything, including catfish. Had short afternoon sessions each of the last two days since the weather has turned milder. Lots of gill action ...

Barely got 'em but I got 'em - a nice 2-3 minute fight on the ultralight.

No doubt about it, I need to try some of those! Some very nice fish, I would have gone home with a big smile on my face.

What is that 5th picture? Is that some kind of hybrid? Looks like a big mouth for a Gill.

Congratulations on a fine outing

Not sure. It did look a bit different. There are Shellccrackers in this lake, so a hybrid could have occurred.

I just started using those, what technique are you using? I put them under a small trout magnet float, with a slow retrieve.

This is what I am doing for the most part. I'll sometimes just very slowly reel it in. Others times move it several feet and stop for 10 seconds or so. I often use a rocket bobber for super long casts from the bank. And I usually put the minnow on a 1/32 thin wire hook jig.

I used them years ago. They do catch fish….but I hated the mess. Am in the process of trying them on trout…..a new technique my nephew picked up out on the White River a few months back. We will be storing them in urine sample cups…they are a lot more secure than the jars they come in.

I store then in empty crappie nibble bottles. Gotta crank the lid nice and tight! Less a problem if you only pull the inner seal halfway open when new and retain.
