I had my Mega Live out for the 1st time today. Overall very pleased.
Here are a couple of screenshots comparing ML to LS.
I'll do a full report tomorrow Overall results between them were close.

Nice! Following along. I've got livescope and am pretty much committed now that I bought a 12 inch screen.
I forgot to post the top picture is Mega Live, the bottom picture is Livescope.
The ML image is a little too hot for me and I need to learn how to tone it down a little.
But I actually prefer the ML image over the LS one here.
The LS does a better job overall when searching beyond 50' in forward view.
LS also does a little better in tracking your bait even though both worked. I was casting 1/16 and 1/32 plastics and could track both up to 40' or so. Within 20' or so they were pretty equal.Slight edge to LS.
Dead spots have been a major pain to me with LS. Yesterday not so much. Both had dead spots but the one with LS was wider and bigger than the one with ML. The dead spot with ML only showed up once yesterday and it was very narrow like LS used to be before the Perspective View update. ML has the edge here IMO.
Top picture LS, bottom ML. Not the same brush pile.

Overall performance was close between both. Both work well.
Hopefully I can get out again soon and try to dial in the ML a little more.
The concern from many was that the Mega Live images were going to be sub par as compared to LS.
Overall I think they are close. All opinions welcomed.

Thank you Roy! You know where I am with ML and will be looking forward to more screen shots and your narrative of what's going on in the picture.
If time permits next time out,see if you can replicate your shallow water brush pile video where you move in and out from the brush showing the dead spot, for each unit.
I know you already did the LS, but do the test again with each unit on the same day and bush for an accurate(same conditions) comparison.
Maybe throw in a dock/pier piling video also?
Not asking too much, eh?

Thanks Roy
MikeF,
I will try to redo that video showing both units. Yesterday the LS was causing interference on the ML when both were running. Found out where the frequency noise rejection is and will try that next time out.
I did fish some docks yesterday and to me the performance was about equal. I hope to get on some rock piles next time out.
I love testing this electronic stuff almost as much as fishing!
Thanks guys for the feedback.
Thanks Roy for posting this for those of us waiting to get there hands on a ML. I was certainly disappointed with the former reviews of the humminbird product and was seriously debating going with the Garmin unit. I have all humminbird graphs on bow and console and wasn’t looking toward the initial expense of new graph and transducer from Garmin. With your post, I’m committed to waiting on availability of the Mega Live and hoping Santa can put one in my stocking this Xmas. Keep us posted and updated on this cause we(I) certainly appreciate it.
Thanks Roy
:biggrin
Thank you for taking the time. Very interesting photos
They do give a much better understanding most of the time
Thanks a million for all your hard work with these reviews, it helps a great deal for everyone looking to invest with this new technology.

:cheers2 Great reviews,,,keep them coming!
I noticed in the images above that the supply voltage to your units varies from 15.6 to 16.4. Curious what you using for a power source.
Thanks, Mike
Thank you for the answer. Good info to know. My lead acids don't supply that voltage. They start out at the low 12 volt range and drop to the high 11 volt range after a few hours use. I understand that a higher supply voltage, within the acceptable range, will improve the image displayed.
I have lithium for the trolling motor and am happy with them. Had to get the wife a second job to pay for them though.
Mike
She might not mind working a third job if you want them for electronics.... :Rofl

The Amped 30 a/h battery is only about $180.
A little OT on the second job should cover it.

Have you noticed a difference on seeing the jig when running the GLS 10 at 13+ volts?
We have noticed a drop off of voltage (12.4 or less on AGM Batt.) later in the day seems to cause the jig profile to diminish somewhat and when switched over to the Amped battery, the jig profile is clear as day again.
Just curious if you have had any experience with voltage/ jig appearance.
Thanks
will be interested if you miss any fish with ML. My concern was always with a wider cone on the Mega. You may be able to see your jig easier but you might be 2 feet off your target fish due to wider cone if pitching out 20 feet. Time may tell if your jig goes unnoticed. Just a thought.
Went out today scouting for an upcoming tournament. Did allot of searching and not allot of catching, that's fishing. Didn't do allot of playing and adjusting with my units today. Keep using LS at one spot and then ML at the next stop. Overall I can track my bait better with LS than I can with ML, not always but more often. Sometimes with LS I can see my jig from the time my bait hits the water all the way back to the boat. Sometimes I can never see it, this seems to happen a little more often with ML. Performance wise they are closer than what I was expecting. Image on ML is really bright with very little clutter as compared to LS. Right now I would give LS the edge but not by allot. I'm sure that ML will only get better once HB releases some updates.
Also I really haven't noticed that my images on my LS improved any with higher voltage.

Santa showed up earlier than expected and I was fortunate to add this to the electric arsenal on my boat. Just wanted to say thanks to ROY for his honest and open review and that helped me pull the trigger.
Tightlines to y’all.

Congratulations, I think your really going to like it!
I'm liking mine more and more. Last trip out after a little tweaking I could track my 1/16 oz jig most of the time out to 35'.
I really like the image quality better than LS. Both are good but different IMO. Some might say I need to increase the gain on the LS. For me this just adds clutter with no additional detail added.

Roy, I can’t wait to get this thing on the water. Just waiting on the bowducer from fishing specialties to arrive next week and it’s on. Really looking forward to the knowledge gained when vertical fishing since that’s my bread and butter. Especially this time of year when the fish are deep and stacked. Keep posting pics cause we really do appreciate it.
Tightlines to ya sir.
