10x36 Alumacraft trial run

I got my solo craft (10x36 Alumacraft) ready this morning and decided to take it to the lake for a trial run .
Got on the lake a little after four and took some short ultralights for some jig tossing .
The little boat was a breeze to launch , I back the trailer to where I had room to stand by the front of the trailer , where I just shoved it off the trailer.
Loading was easy too , with the trailer backed half in the water , I pull the boat a couple feet up on the trailer , grabbed the front handle and pulled it all the way up to the winch . Don’t really need a winch . The boat’s light enough to just pull it where I need to .
I think my favorite lake has been fished out in my absence. Bites are hard to come by .
This after I caught two decent shellcrackers , one small bluegill , and a small largemouth bass .
No monsters , but they put a bend in my ultralights and a smile on my face .

I had one of those years ago without a trailer. It was a fun little small lake boat

What lake is that? I use a jon as well, mostly fish HQ Lathem res in Dawson county. Its a Cherokee county water impoundment, but only open 8-5.

Lake Kedron in Peachtree city .
I was met with a new sign yesterday.
Fayette County has four reservoirs the other three have been permit for nonresident for years .
And from what I understand, they no longer offer daily permits because the money box kept getting vandalized. So they went to annual permits , which I’ve heard are costly .
Being a Fayette county resident for over twenty five years it doesn’t affect me .
After my last couple of trips , I’m glad they finally cut off the ones that were taking home everything they catch . A small reservoir can’t handle that kind of pressure.

Got skunked today at the local reservoir. Can’t figure the fish out .
Spoke with a guy who lives on the lake and he said he’s had trouble catching anything since the first of October. May have been the cool nights we’ve been having.
And this was my last Lake visit with the 10 footer .
Just Can’t get comfortable in it .
After three hours in it today , I was almost too stiff to get out of it .
Thought I’d move to the middle seat and move the trolling motor up front , but tried it today and it’s way to wobbly for me .
Not enough room in the back for this old fart . My left arm and shoulder are hurting from twisting around to operate the trolling motor.
Just going have to stick with the 14 footer where I sit up front and operate the trolling motor in front of me .
I’ll part out the 10 footer and put the other Millennium seat in the back of the 14 footer to have a matching pair .

Looks like a good day on the water with a neat little boat. Enjoy!

I put my MK Terrova iPilot 80 lb from my "big" boat" on front of a 14' jon. I used QR brackets and power sockets on both boats, and a plug on the TM leads (Battery Tender heavy duty 70A plug/socket) so I can easily and quickly move it between the jon and the big boat. Drive with the remote, or foot pedal.

Sounds like a awesome setup

It is great for the electric-only small lakes, like the one I fish the most. It is 480 acres, and I have caught 4 personal best species from it: shellcracker, bluegill, crappie, and spotted bass.

Decided to not give up on the 10 footer .
I’ve got a few ideas to maybe help with the issues I have with it .
Also I think part of my discomfort came fro working on the trailer and boat for a week , then going fishing two days in a row when I’m not use to sitting in a boat for 3 1/2 hours.
I’m going to move the battery box to in front of the middle seat on my left side and shift my seat my right about six inches to allow me to get to the trolling motor handle without twisting around so much . I fish off my left side 99% of the time anyways . This should give my legs more space . I’m hoping , with the battery move , I can offset the seat shift .

Sounds like a plan, Gill. You hate to give up on such a sweet little setup too soon.

I’ve had both a 10 and a 14 footer in my past, ,more limber days, and they worked fine. Now I’m 6’2” and 240lbs and a few injuries down the road. The 10 is nice but at 36” wide I’m sure it wouldn’t work for me. A momentary button and a switch box that went between the battery leads and battery was the best solution to a lot of my problems. Stopped a lot of twisting around. Both had bow mounted TM’s eventually.
