That Lab sure looked happy to be there.
Great job. Nice pics, thanks for sharing.
Hey there Mo,
Thank You Kindly for sharing your day and pictures. You can count me among the ones who has not had the privilege of an enjoyable dove hunt for several years. Hope you get to go again real soon.

That looks fun. True story (kinda). Last time I tried dove hunting my aim was so bad, I averaged 3 misses for every bird. The doves started laughing at me. One gave me time to reload and circled back to give me a second 3 misses. But I showed them . After about 30 shots I finally winged one. I went to get him and he took off again. I gave up. But I did hit the telephone wire to my daughters house and knocked it down. The phone guy said we do that again and we would be phoneless for a while, a long while.
I love watching a bird enter the field and one hunter after another unload on him as he gracefully maneuvers his way towards me and certain death. I learned the trick to making a great shot. The birds scan in front of them, and if you hold still longer than normal, and allow them to get close before you move, they don’t see you and do that little dodge and dip trick. Straight and level bang. Here in my area dove hunt clubs are $600 and I cannot reason it for what you bring home to eat. Fun yes, worth that no.
Good job! Doves n pastry or Doves n rice!
Haven't done that for years. So much fun!
Save them up Marty. They are awesome in a gumbo with sausage.
That's my favorite shot the one right at you and yes you have to have little screen in front of you and only rise up when he is upon you then start behind it and pull to right past the beak and PUFF.
love those pics and that was me way back in the 70's and 80's back when I was a damn good shot and could really puff them and had my best retieving Lab ever Joe T Black. Nowadays with way my eyes are just not hitting them like I used to so mostly crappie fish after opening morning and play host to long time hunting buddies. This year was the WORST as very few birds were flying on the MDC sunflower fields where they didn't make much seed and nothing on ground to attract them. WE still had great time with wonderful meals and good time was still had by all in talking about old times.
