Lots of money involved…..but that would be a dream for sure!
Interesting stuff for sure !
lots of hard work, planning and mucho money’s!
but a fisherman’s paradise for sure!
I had a 2 acre lake built in 1982 on 17 acres. While it was built well it involved nothing like this…..no telling the money this guy spent but hey…I’m happy for him. My dentist…and friend…..went in with another dentist…oral surgeon…..and built a 9 acre lake…no expense was spared. It is now full of huge Florida strain largemouth…..and no I don’t get to fish it….LOL. Pretty sure the agreement the two had was strictly family only…..and I can understand that. There was a time in Tennessee…..and I assume in other states…..one could get those done for free. Of course the lake had to be a certain size….watershed lakes. The guy next to my 17 acres….who I think has since passed……had a 10 acre lake built in late 50’s. Didn’t cost him a penny…..and I did get to fish in that one….LOL.

Some of those ponds were sure loaded with fish
Very interesting.
built several over the years , largest was in the 4+ acre range , the 4 acre one cost us $ 35,000 in 2008 .
and additional $2,500 in fish stocking.
it was an existing 1 acre pond me and my buds wanted to enlarge .
I will try to find some photos of the adventure when I can .
We just had a blast doing it , when they cut the dam on the old pond we gathered fish .
Man was the silt deep , sure was one big ole play day in the mud that day .
what a hoot ,4 of us and 2 dogs just totally covered in pond mud :highfive
Wow, that's some serious cash. We have an old farm pond if I could get a hold of the land would like to play with. Here I was thinking one could make or enlarge one fairly cheap with a tractor.... guess not. All I need is $$$$$$$
the first pond we built back when was in 2005 was 2,500 and a little over an acre , it required lots less dirt work , the larger pond required earthmovers and other heavy equipment due the amounts of materials being moved , both took about a week to build though .
you might just want to dredge an old pond and deepen it , probably more affordable and possibly enlarge the dam height with the dredged materials ?
very nice
This guy's dad left him in excellent shape. I want to see segment 9 & 10. This 5 acre lake cost him a fortune. He has built a dream 80 acres that his neighbors
will really appreciate and enjoy.
I'm in the process of redesigning my pond for next summer. I now have a 2700 gallon pond that is 4 feet in the ground and 2 feet above ground, measuring around 7 x 8. This is a traditional style that looks out into our patio. It has served me well, but as much as I enjoy raising koi, I've discovered that I really enjoy making ponds. So I'd like to go a little larger, approximately 4500 gallons, and make some upgrades. A few criteria- I want it to winter well- my existing pond in Minnesota has kept around 49-50 degrees this winter with absolutely no heat source (a 100 watt aquarium heater) but is extremely well insulated. I want the pond to use as little electricity as possible, especially during the six-month off season. I am a little unconventional, and I enjoy air lifts and submersibles. A pond liner is required to prevent water from leaking into the ground in a pond. Visit 5 Best Pond Liners Reviewed in Detail (Spring 2022) to learn more. Even though a pond may theoretically contain water without a line, a pond liner serves additional purposes, such as keeping the water clean and the general pond ecosystem healthy for plants and fish.
I stumbled across some of those videos a couple of months back. It is a impressive undertaking
This guy is absolutely great, he has a bunch of videos on making ponds...
