Hey guys,
Was wondering if anyone had a Shakespeare Micro Series rod that is 7ft and is an ULTRA LIGHT…….I have this exact rod but it’s a LIGHT. I found it to be too stiff for throwing 1/32 jigs at distance….so I wanted to buy the ultra light one. If anyone has this exact rod and can post some close up pictures of it so I can see how it compares I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks guys.
The bottom end of the ultra light rod is skinnier, maybe about a little smaller than the diameters of a pencil, the light is fatter.Quote:

Have you tried Gliss line. It cast better than any line I've used but is so small of diameter that it hard to tie. I use it dock fishing in the winter also on ice spoons.

I have the light 7’ rods also, 2 of them . With 4 lb line it will cast a light jig very well. With 2lb Stren Crappie you will have to stop it from going into the trees, casts way better than 4 lb. never used the UL rod of that length.
a stiff rod no matter the make should cast better than a softer version of it ? :dono
I have one. Don’t use it that much due to a recent purchase, but used it all of last summer. It tosses a 1/64 trout magnet fine. Happy to send you any pictures, just let me know what you need. Definitely an entry-level Rod, I can tell that my ~$60 Pflueger is nicer.
Up until recently all I've used is light action rods. I bought an ultralight rod (Fenwick Elite Tech River Runner) last year and it doesn't cast 1/64 oz. jigs any farther than my light action rods with 2 lb. test. It is more forgiving in the fight and so I don't have to be quite as careful fighting the fish, but I don't notice any significant distance in casting. Can't speak in general or specific to the Shakesphere rod question you've asked though.
I have looked in the last few day. I have not found any UL's for sale.
I’m still settling on which rod to buy……..thanks a lot for everyone’s comments, a lot of good information.
The only ultra light in that Shakespeare rod I have seen is the 5 ft. I guess they sold out of the 7 ft. rods .
