I just returned from a couple weeks out of town, where are the fish biting? I'm in desperate need of a thump next weekend! :biggrin

As of last Thursday morning Smith lake. We fished from 0545-0910
We didn’t catch these shallow, they were 15-24 ft deep.
They look to have been biting at some depth
Sure wish I knew. I’m sure you will find them. Lol

Funny thing is at least once a year I meet some old guy in his 70's or 80's in a flat bottom doing the same thing. The response is always the same, been fishing this way my whole life, learned from my daddy. They usually are dragging hand cut bamboo poles with corks and jigs pulled slowly using a trolling motor. There not on Crappie.com and probably don't have a computer in the house. If you want to know how to catch fish ask the old guys, they learn how to catch them when it wasn't for fun but was instead food for the table. :twocents
I don't know if it means Crappie will be there, but yesterday afternoon there was what looked like big schools of baitfish all over, flipping out of the water, in the slough there off Hwy 67 where the boardwalk walking trail is on the North side of 67. You could see them moving around in big sections making the surface ripple. It's pretty shallow over there I'd guess 3-5 ft deep. Might be worth checking out. This was late in the afternoon. I know that Flint Creek's main channel runs through this area pretty close by. You can put a Kayak in there by the fishing pier.

Where there are baitfish schools, Crappie are always close by!
Been trying to figure out how to find them on my fish finder. I’ve chased a few that I saw on surface but seemed like they were running from me.
