Yeah, I found that chart but I'm sure it was made prior to 2009. I was hoping someone with knowledge of the older motors could decipher the serial number for me.
I went to this page Search Parts and put in the above number and it shows invalid.

I'm not sure that's the full serial number. MK usually starts a product number.

How to read Minn Kota serial numbers
Starting in January of 2009, MinnKota serial numbers started in the below format:
A / NNN / SS / NNNNNN
This code is as follows
A = the Alpha equilivant of the year ie: 2009 = J, 2010 = K, ..... 2016 = Q, 2017 = R, 2018 will be S
NNN = the Julian date the unit was made on. A Julian calender, January 1 is 001 and December 31 (non leap year) is 365
You can find Julian calenders on the web -- Google it
SS = Unit type, MK is trolling motors, AI is battery chargers
NNNNN = the actual serial number of the unit

ps...Look closely at the zeros or the letter Os as they are mixed up easily. The letter O is slightly elongated. Messed me up in a model search one time.
That is the exact # taken from the tag on the front of the base. I'm thinking 2001 (the 01 after the MK). That is just an uneducated guess. Also found some parts on ebay from a 2001 that match.
What parts are you needing
Just ordered some pivot pads and supports off ebay. I have 3 others that need various small parts, I would like to be able to ID the year then I can pull up the correct manual to track down whatever parts I may need in the future.
Unfortunately the Achilles's heel of those old Powerdrives is the foot pedal. They no longer make new ones and used ones that still work bring a lot of money, and they often don't stay working for long.
If I am not mistaken some of them could be converted to remote. Or at least parts were available at one time
Yeah, the footpedal is/was a big problem. Luckily, I've got a couple of extras. I just picked up a 48" shaft powerdrive at a garage sale, with a good pedal, for 20.00. I've already converted it to a 54" shaft for a deep v I'm working on rehabing. I wish they still offered the auto pilot feature on the entry level powerdrives they're making now.
Wasn't too long ago I had seen some for sale on Amazon.
