Family

We all enjoy our family time and the memories built last a long time. I was lucky enough to have my young daughters family, the BluegillGirl, living across the street for a few months. We fished and shared meals and just enjoyed having them so close. We all know that as life progresses that things change and new doors open and sometimes, they just have to be passed through. Such it was this past weekend. Friday evening the truck was packed and Saturday we drove up to middle Tennessee to their new home. There’s work to be done to make everything the way they need it to be but this is where they’ll spend the next many years. So my close by and close to my heart fishin buddies have moved away but the fun we had will live on for many years to come. It was nice to have the impromptu trips that will now take planning to get put together. If y’all have someone close to you whose company you enjoy, get all of it you can as we never know what positive changes may be in the future. Thanks to all of you for coming along with us on our trips that I’ve posted about, so go make some of your own and post about them so we can all enjoy along with you. Same Same here my brother , My daughter and son in law and grandson opened a tavern in a town 2.5 hours away this year . They did live about 10 minutes down the road , key word "did" . Last month they sold the house here and bought one on 13 acres with a barn and a pond right square in the hill country of Texas. She already has her new job and he already has his , they have planned it for a long time .
Covid scares have kept our visits low this last year and we used to baby sit the grandson and eat family dinner together all the time .
We will miss them being around the corner for sure , but the good news is they are located only about 40 minutes from our place in the country .
It has been my son in laws dream to be his own boss and they purchased his grandfathers grocery store 3 or 4 years ago and built the bar and grill themselves right in the middle of the town on the square . The eatery is rocking hard and the income off it is really nice from what I hear . Sales are high , standing room only on the weekends .
None the less my grandson was at arms length and now it will be once in while the stars line up to go play with him . They sure are happy right now though and the son in law is also running his grandfathers ranch 3 days a week , he always loved being a rancher too.
My daughter is in upper level school management and to be sure they have a great chance to be happy and successful . I am very happy for them and also happy my grandson won't grow up in a big city .
That part of the world is so much different than living near a large town and everyone still waves at each other as they drive past them daily and his family lives down there too.
It's a win win in the end , but I will miss them living close to us .

It is because of stories like these that I take in everyday, regardless if we do anything or not because as I keep telling my son, time is flying by and it only gets faster. I keep reminding him that he's going to wake up tomorrow and the 3 of us are going to be walking out onto the football field for senior night and then it's on to the next stage of his life. I also try to impart on him that he also needs to be soaking in everything, especially this time of his life, because of how important it is, making friends, school, sports, social life, you guys know.

I'll be 59 in a couple of months and he'll be a sophomore this year and 16 yrs old the 23rd of this month, he's a great young man. We have zero problems from him, he makes good grades, stays out of trouble, active at his school, popular, minds at home, a great athlete, doesn't complain when we ask him to do something, just a great experience so far for his mother and I because he makes it so easy to be a parent. The only complaint I have is he doesn't like to fish, LOL. Believe me, I've tried everything and it's just not in him but it's really not a big deal because he loves to shoot so we get that time together in place of fishing.

His mother and I are dreading the day he moves out, hopefully he'll stay close. I'll probably retire soon after he graduates and we'll go from there as far as where we will live. It's nice to see other families that enjoy each others company because where I work so many speak ill about family members and I honestly don't get it and can't begin to imagine being around that.

the fledglings must fledge, one time my daughter called me when she was still in college getting her second degree and we were chatting and I thought , bet she needs money ....
she of course had a great job as a substitute teacher on the side at the time ...so ....at one point ,,,,
I said so how much do you need sweety ?.....SHE said dad ....I dont need your money anymore I make BIG people money now :yikes
as the conversation went on she mentioned her long time boyfriend and how he wanted to move home after they graduated college to save up some money .....she was not happy about it and it was the end of them ....she was in that what the heck mode and then said ....
I am not EVER moving back home to live with my parents .....rotfl
of course there were mixed emotions when she said that , but in the end , it seems I raised her right :highfive

I feel ya.
Son joined the Army last September, now done with basic, AIT, Airborne and now stationed over 5,000 air miles away.
Daughter bought a house and moved her out last week. Still not far but we are officially empty nesters.

Love them both to death. Miss these little pains! :biggrin

We will still make memories when we can.

I wish I could share a nice story as well, however…..my 12yr step son does everything he can to aggravate and test my patience, lol. You ever seen the movie “Problem Child” with John Ritter?! Ok picture that, LOL!!!

Just down the road from you in Manchester. I haven’t been there in 6 years and had no time to see any of my friends while I was there, all business.
