Made a light mount after watching Richard Gene catching fish under the bridges using his lights. I went aluminum instead of wood. Hopefully the fish won't mindAttachment 405956

Nice light Jack!
Now if you can figure out how to beat those big skeeters you will be set !
im not going at night and fighting those huge skeeters for em ! don’t matter if I could catch a limit of 2 #ers. lol.
I do have a thermo cell that works really great but some them their skeeters on the TN river leave whelps for days! :Rofl
I sure have missed setting up under a bridge at night on Guntersvilles. Some magic down there at those bridges. I believe I found one up here on the Chick that may have that same magic. I have a fresh bottle of bug spray. I may have to install a bug zapper on the boat. :biggrin
Nice light Jack. I like that is it led?
Cool deal!!
Let us know how it works and what you catch.
I need to get back there soon.

I use one of those PVC wrapped with LED underwater light sticks. No bugs that way. I haven't had a mosquito bite in several years, and I live right on the water. Must be all of the bourbon in my blood. [emoji57]Attachment 405959

It was a slow night. Minnows clustered tightly under the light. Then small shad swimming in a circle as far as I could see. Shine the headlamp at the water on the dark side of the boat they were there also. 10 short crappie, lost count on white bass, 4 crappie came home with me for po boys. Fought a 17" largemouth that didn't know he was hooked until he got to the boat. Then the fight was on. 4lb Viscous high vis. Took a minute or 2 to get him in. Lost count of the number on fish that bumped into the boat. Has one jump in and land on the front deck from the dark side of the boatAttachment 405968Attachment 405969Attachment 405970

Not sure what this cloud is but it is swimming around. Zooplankton are supposed to be too small to see. Whatever it is the minnows were eating itAttachment 405972Attachment 405973Attachment 405974

My guess is daphnia. (Small water flea) I used to try growing and breeding them to feed my aquarium fish.
Ran the light on high for approximately 5 hours. Still had 1 bar left showing on the 20 volt 5 amp battery.
Get a Thermo-Cell from walmart....hang it on your belt
I like the little mounted light buddy, good job. Surprised you don’t have a solar panel running it though :Rofl
I will try to find the light extension apparatus photos from 40 years ago we made for crappie at night on lake fork when it opened up .
it held 3 or 4 old school head lights above the water at about 6 foot away from the boat .
it was all aluminum as well . :highfive
200 to 300 crappie a night with.... wait for it ,,,,,,rod stewart all cranked up in the dark ....
yes we experimented with loud rock and roll in the dark and it became clear that rod stewart was best with the lights on at night
brought back some fond memories when you said it was aluminum :cheers2
I originally started hanging Coleman white gas lanterns from the under sides of the bridges. That worked awesome. Something about that color of light
Good job Jack!
glad you got out and gave it a whirl ! Not bad contending with all that bait !
If that bridge has much depth to it remember it this Nov-March you know what it will hold out their !
I may have to come to Tennessee! Lol No skeeter bites !:ThumbsUp
2 thermo cells
a big box of dryer sheets and I’m still not going here until November! Lol
That sound like loads of fun.
I’ll furnish the minnows!!!!! [emoji23]

I’m gonna get back to Dayton this year. After Florida and before Italy.
Probably middle of September to late October. I will definitely let you know when I land at Bluewater.
Love that place!!

I saw that episode when Richard rigged his light. I love the down-to-earth ingenuity and simplicity of his whole approach to fishin'.
Nice job on the light brother... that'll work right there for sure... and that's all they are to it right there.
I noticed Richards light and wood bracket for it. I mean, what would one expect? The mans a carpenter and it was a temporary setup. Run what ya brung! Cool light you did Jack, the possibilities of such on a pontoon would be endless. Have fun with the kids when that happens.
It will be a fun project. A flat level floor would be nice also. A trip out on the Tracker and my knees pay from the constant stair step aerobics that go on. I will keep the tracker for shooting docks. All other fishing will likely be done on the pontoon.
