In my 50 yrs of fishing one of the few lures I've never tried are Roadrunners. I just bought some 1/16 oz with BG Itty Bitty bodies. I'm in the mood for my annual fish fry so I think I will try them Saturday. Any tips?

Get some 1/32 (will fall slower ) and try 1 and 1.5 sliders , 2 inch southern pro grubs , Fle Fly's go-go minnow .Fish slow , can add split shot up the line for different action . I've got boxes of Sliders. Most types they make. Love sliders for everything from gills to walleye. Just thought I'd try roadrunners for my first time ever.

steady retrieve ,close to the bottom , panfish love them
lighter is better for sunfish , 1/16 is more crappie sized
big advantage of RR's is u can vary the depth by how fast your retrieve is. can do your fan cast then work a different depth without moving till you find out the magic place.
I have never bought road runners with bodies always bought bodies of all kinds .
I agree about the 1/16 is crappie size. The thing is these bg think they're bass. They will think nothing about hitting a standard size crankbait like a bandit. Last week I used trout magnets and my partner used crappie magnets. He caught 4 bg to my 1. Never seen a place with fish acting like this place. Now mind you the gills we catch range from 9" - 10.5". They just like a double cheeseburger instead of a single I guess [emoji846]Quote:

As with any of the spinners, add a curl tail and you can work the same depth slower or run the lure a bit higher. I’ve used em from super light to 1/4oz and they all produce well.
My favorite lure for fishing farm ponds
farm pond bluegill and private water gills are typically more aggressive than the public water versions .
possibly due to competition and or less educated ,not sure but seen it several times myself
talked with a guy just the other day about his big bluegill in his tank and he said they hammer crankbaits in there .
if you apply that presentation at the clear water spot we go after our larger bluegill you won't ketch a single sunfish I promise .
heavy pressure in clear water makes them way more shy and elusive .
