Beautiful Go Go Minnow time

Put me a willow bladed jig 1/16 oz . unpainted pill head jig head and a small Go Go Minnow
in black with sparkles in it on my braid rod yesterday .:ThumbsUp
Am glad I did ! :biggrin
My bud in the boat kept saying they don't work for him .nonono
I kept saying they don't ketch fish for you ?:dono
Maybe it's just the operator my friend ....:yikes
As I slung some real nice slabs in the boat over and over . :highfive
and KABOOM is the word from the Go Go minnow korner :cheers2
AND btw the way the fish at that spot Finally moved deep , they were in 7 to 8 feet of water yesterday afternoon on structure/cover ! :crazy:

keep in mind this wasn't a pitch and reel it back to ya deal , we was dipping in huge trees laying on the bottom in short water ,some think its a drag it thru the water bait , but it does wonders going up and down vertically instead of running horizontally for sure :highfive

You just gave me an idea! Well, your idea. I will try in a certain spot I know there are fish there. Is that lure made for vertical? It has a different spinner gizmo.

So the blade was added due to? Water clarity? Help keep hook from snagging? Please elaborate.........this is very interesting.

the bladed jig heads were made to my specifications , a real swimmy twister tail like a go go minnow that swims effortlessly and its a dreamy summer time bait that imitates the most favorite bigmouth predator summer food item ever .
it has the appearance of more than one baitfish tight together and that to a fish that eats like a crappie is a dream come true , 2 for 1 all day long in that little pea brain of theirs ,is how they look at it ,,,,:Rofl:highfive

its basically a really dialed in bigtime customized road runner made just for crappie , it dips well and also swims well , the willow blade is for less drag and a slightly more eligible looking prey item for a crappie .
Colorado blades / the standard on most commercial sold small bladed baits ,are too bulky and vibrate way to much and often twist and don't allow you to fish using that subtle summer time presentation often needed to detect soft bites .

Ok, please elaborate on your preferred willow leaf blade sizes. I can machine molds for modification but lack the experience fishing with blades vertically. I always catch more than I can eat so I feed others who enjoy crappie.

The current rain situation here in Mississippi is keeping the visibility low, Your thoughts on the benefit of adding a blade to single pole vertically for turbid water?

I use what is pictured but have no clue the exact size ,probably around an inch long or slightly under . in highly turbid water blades act as a two fold helper , the vibration and noise created and then of course the flash .
these particular versions were developed by others and fine tuned a bit by me , they raise and fall like a regular jig for the most part in a very defined motion ,not in a twisting or circling mode like other bladed baits often do .
the action is totally dreamy and even a soft bite summer fish will often just hammer the living fire out of them .
when our water was muddy I used them in a pitch and drag mode do to the spread of the fish on the flats and not holding on cover .
in really turbid muddy waters, crappie often use the poor clarity as a form of camo ,they lighten up to almost no color and roam instead of sitting down .
when the water cleared up here I drop them vertically , summer time shad balls flickering all around are what this imitation is all about .
might want to try an orange or hot pink plastic with scent added if the water is muddy and maybe even paint the heads orange or pink too ....:highfive
one last thing that might come into play in your situation is possibly an upsize to what I am using , the go go comes in another size a bit larger and you may want to run that size on a number 4 hook with a slightly larger blade

got those from Steve at limits tackle , 1/16 pill head with a number 6 sickle , he might have other version available but that is what i opted for .

I use round heads and squeeze them in a bench vice to make pill heads. Richard Williams showed me this trick.

seen that done myself , didn't or don't have to be pill heads , ball heads are ok as well
