We need a pic rich. I tiy from 1/16 to 1 and 1/2 oz. What style
grumpy i tie preacher style. several hackles on the tail ,several tie in with bucktail [hollow tie] .just thinking that shorter tips and craft hair would work on smaller 1/32aand 1/16
Sounds interesting
Don’t know why I got a triple post for this but here we go!
This is what I pull up for preacher head. Is this what you’re talking about? Do you like craft hair? I have it but seems to get tangled like no other for me.

that is a copy of a preacher jig but doesnt have any feathers in the tail . talon tackle is remaking that old summertime jig.
That’s a pretty jig. Mine are mostly basic and unpainted.
That is a good looking jig
Same here with the Craft Fur, it really works well, but tangled together is a mess! So I prefer real Hair/Fur over Craft Fur. Know some use it a lot and know one guide that ties his own uses that Craft Fur all the time.
Like the looks of the jig, but a little on the long side for Crappie so need trimming, lol!

I stick with feathers and hair for my little jigs, but that preacher jig is out of my league it really looks neat.
i like the look of the cumberland pro prayer jig. the trick will be to downsize it for crappie

I got bored and added a pretty little collar on it.
The pictured jig has heavy wraps from trying to bind all that material. Looks to me like the hook would be choked. I’ll make another and see if I can get more fluff without filling in the gap too much.
I don't see a real problem with the gap at all. You may not get the roof of the mouth but your not looking for tarpon. Keep bringing on the great work,
i would not use chenille for the body . use more craft hair but tie it in facing forward over the tail wraps then fold it back so it is near the bend. would give a wider baitfish profile. there are some nice videos by gunner brammer on utube , tying his predator series of flies and jigs
