Not that I haven't done ok on those days but do far better with a bit cloud cover and a light breeze.
Better yet just before the front moves in the day after.

I agree cloud cover helps but, if I have an opportunity to fish, I fish.
If i waited for "perfect" weather conditions, I'd never go fishing.
Also, if you're sight fishing (with redfish, for example) sunny days make it easier to spot the fish.
I would make a difference weather if it was spring or fall. I love a bright sunny day for some techniques.

Bright sunny days are good days for dock shooting. They also relate well to pontoon boats on bright days
Generally speaking ? no . But on clear water they will be tight to cover in deep water .
Yes! I like sunny days. They hold tighter to brush piles which is my favorite spot to fish. No wind is sometimes a pain for spotlock and end up drifting around.
I like um, just don't get many, if any, where I live...
Don't care either way on the sun but absolutely hate fishing glass. Have a friend that loves fishing glass.
Yea I can work on my man tan. :Rofl
Those are the days i wait for
As already stated, the brighter the day, the tighter to shade the fish will be around midday. That's when dock shooting and under toons "shine". :highfive
Just look for the darkest part of the darkest part!

The problem I had today on this one lake is that the weeds haven't grown much yet from the bottom and on a bright sunny day not too many places for fish to relate to. Water temperature dropped 3 degrees from yesterday due to a night time low of 34. The spawn is set to begin so I figure the fish are confused as to where they're supposed to be. Only caught a dozen - mostly small sunfish, a nice crappie and 1lb bass. Finally towards afternoon the clouds started coming overhead along with a breeze but by that time I had to leave. I think weed beds make all the difference as well as seasonal changes.
Usually good fish to be had back in those dark holes Sent from my SM-G955U using Crappie.com Fishing mobile app
Slight breeze is always good especially on those bluebird days.
Just my luck! Promised a friend we'd go today : same as yesterday sunny, calm, no clouds and bright blue sky. Can't tomorrow: cloudy, 10mph wind, warmer and prefrontal. : (
Right about now after early spring I’ll take any day I can get - like today. 70s and sunny - I’m all in!
Bob
sure , especially if i am on a real nice shaded dock , it dont get much better if crappie are the target species in these parts :highfive
Just got back and though the weather started out bright, sunny and calm, we still caught 85 fish. Problem was the size which averaged 6-7" for crappie, small size bass and sunfish (except in a different part of the lake). At least we did manage a few 11" crappie and some big sunfish. On cloudy days the size increases on this lake. Of course now at 2pm the clouds are moving in and a breeze is blowing. He had to be off the lake by 1:30.
How true how true!
I like being on the lake and fishing. If the sun gets to bright I will find a bridge to hide under. If it is too windy I'll find a sheltered cove or a creek to fish. If the rain is too much I'll fish my slips. If it's too cold I'll throuw on some more clothers.
Notice I did not say catching. I said fishing, i.e., trying to catch them. I'm good at fishing, not so good at the catching. I fished 4 hours this afternoon and only caught 25 crappie, two small bass and a small catfish. Friend of mind caught 45 crappie during the same period, using minnows. He kept trying to get me to use minnows but I was bound and determine that those crappie were not going to tell me what to feed them. :Rofl
:cheers2
Same here! Of the 95 fish caught between the two of us (correction in number counter count), my partner caught fish 5:1 in the same dang boat! So while he caught fish I got casting practice. (Shouldn't have taught him so well...)
The "wind gods" have had it out for me for many years. The forecast can be for <5mph winds and as soon as I get to the lake the winds pick up. I can get on a bank on one side of a creek or the main lake & the winds will try to blow me in whatever direction I DON'T want the boat to go (which is usually right at the bank I'm fishing :bash ). Then I look over on the opposing bank and see a calm stretch of water, and decide to move over there. BUT, once there, the wind will shift and find me ... even if I try and get back into a small pocket or creek.
SO, to answer your question ... sunny, cloudless days - I'm fine with that. But "no breeze" conditions .... ain't happening for Pappy nonono
Always like a little ripple on the water. Kinda like Goldilocks... Just Right!
Sunny/cloudy don't care, just so it's calm-ish....Seems around here it's calm or your fishing in (Deadliest Catch) type conditions.
The weather man can predict no wind all day if I get off work and go to the lake it will be blowing 15-25 mph! I cannot remember the last time I got to go fishing and not fight the wind

This is why I love my home lake, Shenango lake in Pennsylvania. There’s always, always somewhere to fish out of the wind. There’s brush or trees or drops in those places too. Very rarely have I not caught fish here. Just have to be careful getting to these spots as you have to go thru the open areas to get to them and the waves can get pretty high in those areas. I don’t have a picture of the lake map to post to show you how it looks.
Shenango lake
You referring to the reservoir or the river lake (narrowed)?
I catch more fish single pole fishing heavy cover on the brightest days with low wind. If it's NIP tide too, wow, I play hooky from everything for that day including muting the cell phone. Using Panoptix to measure to the edge perimeter of the trash pile first, then fishing all the way around before fishing further towards the center. This has produced thousands of quality crappie for me.
