Beware Of This Seller

First let me say that I have bought and sold stuff through CDC for years and have never had an issue until now, but this time I’m afraid I’ve been HAD. I want to give you guys and gals a heads up about a seller I’ve been trying to deal with. First I posted a thread on here looking for a Ranger seat pedestal and he responded that he had one for sale. After a series of about 20 emails I sent him the money ($100) through PayPal as he requested. Now he will not ship the item unless I send him more money ($20). He is claiming he cannot access the funds due to some type of credit card issue on his end but yet wants me to send more funds the same way as before. Doesn’t make sense why this time would be any different. I told him I was not sending more funds and now he claims he cannot ship the item
without the extra money. I have just contacted PayPal and disputed the charges and hopefully I’ll get my money back. Hate to bash anyone but this is shaping up like a scam and I think I’ve been taken.

This is not good. Please PM me any more information you might have butlerrd. And as a note to everyone here, please never purchase from someone with "ZERO POSTS", that we don't know. Scammers get on and are not community members, so don't buy from them no matter what. We changed the rules here so newbies can't sell. But this person did not post an ad, they replied to an ad. Be especially warry in a case like this, and don't take chances, don't buy anything from a newbie. And if you're solicited to buy anything at all via PM, please report it immediately.

Can't find any JamesWinMoore in the membership list. Maybe if we knew what his user name was the warning would be just a bit more help. Scammer usually have multiple PayPal accounts set up.

That was the User Name he responded with. Also he was welcomed on the Newbie forum.

He may not show in the user name list anymore. I took care of him. But that is it.

His name is no longer on the member list.....he has been banned so he cannot do this again. Best advice I can give is when you think about dealing with a member that you do not know or recognize.....or one that has not been a member for a length of time.......or has a low post count......then you need to think about it.

“Caveat emptor” is always good policy, especially on the internet.

Shameful, but it can happen anywhere, anytime, so sorry.

Just read a post on WalleyCentral about the same scam. Guy had gotten a couple of guys for a lot more money. Same MO. Does not post just answers a want to buy add that he has what you are looking for. Gets money then does not ship. Never Ever pay with "friends and family" always "goods and services" unless you are dealing with a long time member and never on eBay. "Goods and services" is only way you will get money back from PayPal.

One thing, when doing a WTB add I always request a picture of the item they say they have with a newspaper or something with current date in it. That way I know they at least have the item I'm wanting, and didnt google a picture. Pay with paypal goods/services and not much they can really scam. In this case I would just contact paypal with the email records showing he is trying to extort more money from you.
