Are they still in the back of creeks,on the bank shallow?Have they moved back out??Only a slim chance I may get to sneak away for just a little while tomorrow, but if I do I’d like to know where to start.

Cold snap prolly pushed em out to the first drop if I’m guessing! If u can find a creek Chanel bend close to shallow water Prolly find em !
I'm wondering this myself. I have my kayak loaded up for my first trip tomorrow since January, I think. I'm also going to be fumbling around in new water closer to our new house. Probably going to be a struggle, but my plan is to fish until I find one.
In my opinion they are everywhere. From not spawning yet and headed in to spawned completely and headed out. One at the time till you find the special spot then it's game on. So move fast and fish slow

I've been busy with work and off the water for a while. May go Sunday, but will the cool down and falling water I'm not sure where the fish will be.
In times like this I try not to develop tunnel vision and fall into the trap of sticking with one area or technique. Instead I try a little bit of everything until I find something that works once I have located the fish. It's a challenge but all part of the game. Several years ago found them in a old strip pit off the main lake. Had never caught anything to speak of there before. Tried minnows and just about everything color of jig I had. Caught nothing until I tried a purple hair jig. Bingo!!
Good luck everyone!!

Exactly! In the spring you have to treat every day differently. Fish are in all stages and one will bite better on a given day. Shallow fish are more affected by bad weather but I would still spend some time on them just to see

I thought this was the time even goobs like myself could catch them. Lol. This used to be the only time I fished for them and did way better than I am now.

It's a good possibility you are now a lifer rather than a seasoner. Welcome to the sport and I'm sorry at the time...bahaha

Believe they are scattered. Went Friday and found fish anywhere from3-10' deep. Still with eggs that were not ready yet! Believe the big fish hit it early now the younger class seems to be in the spot I fished on the Big G.
Well, like I said I was going to do, I went to a new area yesterday. It looked fantastic. I fished shallow flats and bars, creek channel breaks, the middle of channels, creek mouths, heavy cover, lay downs, weeds, rocks, and even under a bridge. For over seven hours. I caught ZERO crappie. Not one little one. Not one that got off at the boat. Just zero.
But, I caught a bunch of other stuff - yellow bass, largemouth, spotted bass, yellow perch, channel cat, drum, bluegill, green sunfish, etc. It was a nice day to be out, despite the lack of crappie.
I had the same experience, so I started fishing for the gills, LOL!
I caught several nice gills on crappie sliders last weekend. Missed a bunch. Figured I’d get me some worms and smaller hook and tear them up. Caught probably 30-40 only very few were any size at all. And couldn’t keep the catfish away from them. I was proud of myself though, actually got a7 pound channel in the kayak on 4pd line. Lol. He drug me around for a few minutes but I finally wore him down. Lot of fun but not what I wanted. Lol

not sure there ,but here around 8 to 10 fow seems best
most of the big fish are about done here
the smalls reign the bank now if there are any in the area
post spawn can be very productive slow rolling a bait near the spawning beds
back off from where they spawn into deep water and cast towards the bank and bump it back to ya real slowly
ducks,docks,docks.
