From my understanding it’s the silver crinkle powder paint on top of the colors. I have some and was going to experiment with that myself whenever I had time. Not sure if first coat needs to be cured first or just double dipped then cured. :dono
That’s pretty popular right now online on the hand tied crappie jigs.
I have all four crinkle colors. Will try to get to a video tomorrow night or Saturday morning on how to do it.
I have the silver, gold is somewhere in shipping currently. Wanted June bug and red and added gold crinkle earlier this week.
Looks great, never heard of it before now but I'm going to check it out. Wonder how it looks under UV light.
Do you buy it by the pound? Where did you get it from? Looking forward to finding out how it's done. If it's sold by the pound I'd like to buy a couple ounces of each color to see how I like it if someone is willing to sell some or trade.
It’s protec paint. TJ’s Tackle sells it.

Bob some guys are making their own paint, don't know or understand how or what. Will send you a link later to what he does. I do know he charges a lot for each jig though.

Pretty much you 1st put what ever color you want to show through be it one, two, three colors and then dip in crinkle paint then heat again. I knew I should done video last night. Funny how thread popped up asking about it. I’ll definitely get one up.
What I’m interested in is that chenille. Guess there are some new colors out or that one has been out and I didn’t realize it.
Chenille colors are almost limitless! What ever one can dream up can be ordered! I have been tying for about 15 years and ordered from Danville almost the whole time. I still come up with simple new age colors all the time. I just got an order in with a new to me color and just made another order with another new one I never had. Maybe someone else has it, I don’t know because I just get what I dream up, lol!

The chenille I have also seen guys take two different ones and then twist them together to make a completely different one then wrap that. Woods and Water has a video on that technique.

Interesting they have different bake times
I have tried it a little but haven’t figured out how to get good consistency yet

Got side tracked today. 2 cup fluid bed pissed me off so I started building a 4 cup with air chamber setup. Lol

I tried the color then crinkle but the color didn’t show through good. Only tried 3 though, I had other issues I was dealing with....lol
Trick i found is little crinkle as possible and to do it all while jig is hot. Heat jig, dip in color/colors or tap on colors, then heat jig again, dip in crinkle and then heat jig again. I got so frustrated during the process with my fluid bed I scraped everything I was doing and started building a new one. Did do 3 jigs and what I came up with so far. To be continued with new fluid bed another day.

Your work is always amazing!
That looks awesome DrNip! :notworthy:HandsClapping:notworthy:HandsClapping
Definitely going to order some, like how they turned out for you Nip.
So, do you really need the "fluid bed"? I've been watching a bunch of videos and it seems that everyone is using them, but I'm not totally sure that it is needed if you keep the powder stirred up good!
I've been painting jigs for 30 years and never used a fluid bed. Usually stir after every half dozen jigs or so depending on head size.
The eyes have it Doc. I use a fluid bed now but for a lot of years I just would stir, stirring definitely works just fine. I do find that I have more consistent paint coating with the fluid bed and it speeds up the process some.
Just ordered the four colors so now I'm looking forward to playing with these crinkle paints. Love trying new stuff.
Do I need fluid bed? Don’t know only way I’ve painted since I started 2013 or somewhere around then. That’s also like saying do I really need all the fancy paint, eyes and what not. Lol
Thanks to DrNip I have the crinkle going. Still practicing.

Those are really cool and purdy.....
Have anyone fished with them and can I see them down some crappie throats???
Asking for a friend:fish
Double post
Those look awesome. Are you using heat gun or another source of heat?
Hmm, wonder if that helps the results and the crackling? :dono
I normally use alcohol burner.
