I would say there’s enough water in there to get a boat in right now.
If you look at the app and its 552ish and higher you are fine to get in there with a boat. Now that's not running thru there the whole time. Its pretty much idling from flint to the creek channel west of the bridge right up against the south bank, then hoping it up, running under the bridge and about 200 yards past the bridge and shutting back down and idling again. A kayak will be fine just about anytime. Suzie hole has a sandbar in the mouth of it that's tricky sometimes, but you would be fine in a Kayak. once you get in the suzie hole, there is some places with deeper water. Been a few years since ive been in there though.
With a kayak you can pretty muck still fish those areas anytime. IF the fish are in there they will stay not matter how low the water gets.
Thanks folks. I think I’m gonna head over and give it a shot tomorrow. I feel like I’d benefit from more time spent in calm shallow water while I’m still getting used to this kayak.

Drop these coordinates in your map app and it’ll show you:
(34.5493170, -86.8098111)
Generally speaking it’s close to Mussell Camp Rd at Cave Springs.

Good luck today by the way. Stay safe and catch a bunch.

Well, this morning was an exercise in futility lol. I first went to Susie Hole, but the water is so low you can’t put in anywhere without walking through 50 yards of mud. I tried putting into the little ramp there in Garth Slough and paddling down to the west entrance, but the water is so low there that my kayak kept getting stuck so I had to get out and drag the kayak back in calf deep mud. I then went down to Lily Pond, put in at the little spot on the SW end, the water there is so shallow you run aground where it necks down before you enter Lily Pond.
I’ve got the afternoon to fish as well but I’ve about had all the kayaking I want for one day. I may hit up a couple of bank spots.

I'm thinking of trying Susie Hole in the morning for a few hours if you want to try a return trip!
Ditch I’d love to but I’m not able to go in the morning, I really appreciate the offer and maybe we can do it another time. Do you put in where I was describing or a different place?

I haven't fished there in a couple years. In the past I've put in at the boat ramp and paddled through Garth Slough into Susie or drag through the woods to drop directly into Susie Hole. The narrow ditch will be all mud this time of year, but the east bank is gravel or hard clay (one of the reasons Crappie move into the area to spawn).
Ah that’s good info, thanks for sharing! If you decide to go another time after tomorrow let me know I’d love the opportunity to tag a long and learn a little bit.
