Fishing with the "Beave"
Got to my spot and it was occupied and he was reluctant to give it up so we shared the spot for a couple hours. I only caught four, three crappie and a bass. Water temp was 50 in the shallows by the bank. The bass coughed up this at the bank. Attachment 395835Attachment 395836Attachment 395837Attachment 395838Attachment 395839

Good stuff. I caught a crappie this past weekend with bait that size hanging out of it's mouth and still was able to stuff my jig in there too! Totally wish I would have taken a picture. :banghead

Nice fish. Was that a perch the bass coughed up?

Looks like a Shad to me. I’ve shared a piece of ground with one once, and he didn’t like me being there. Slapped his tail as he left. Glad you got out and made a new friend. Always cool when the locals show up and don’t mind you being there. Nice crappie you got there too.

Cool pics of the furry friend, and good catch. Waters are warming and fish are moving up!

I fished there three times in the past week and he's been there every time. I got a tail slap the first trip but we've been cool since. Fishing is looking up and will be fishing there again today. I couldn't tell if it was a shad or a small sunfish, even gave it a sniff test because shad generally have a stronger smell but still can't tell.

Thanks for the cool pictures. Must be a good spot.

Once I was deer hunting over a pond, and it was a sunny day and I fell asleep. Woke up to the sound of a tree falling and was barely able to roll out of the way as it came crashing down. Beaver. He wasn’t there at the time though or I would have blasted the devil. That was when I began noticing all the trees had been chewed. Mostly nocturnal creatures I think. Look like they could take your hand off fairly easily, too.

Yesterday he wasn't there or maybe was just sleeping in. The crappie must have been sleeping in as well, only caught one 12" there. My favorite spot on the lake, have caught many crappie there over the years but it's still early. Lake is shallow but water is 6 foot deep in this area with lot's of underwater brush, a jig magnet. Probably average losing a half dozen hand tied jigs every trip.
