I use Mono 6lb hi vis Mr Crappie. Sometimes the fish will pick up the jig and never make the pole bounce. You will see the line go slack or it will run sideways. Way easier to see with hi vis than clear line. Also 6lb is tough enough to boat swing the fish, but yet easy enough to break the jig off if it gets hung. I never stop when I get hung. I just keep trolling and if it’s one of my front rods I let line out until I can get ahold of the line to grab it so I can pull it to either break the jig off or straighten the hook, according how good it’s hung lol. If it’s a side rod, I will pass it under the other rods and try to get on the other side of the snag and pop it out. If it doesn’t come out I just break it off. I never stop trolling unless I got 4-5 rods hung at the same time and I think I’m going to break a rod. Everyone does it a little different though. Just what I’ve found that works best for me in the 5-6 years I’ve been spider rigging.
Thanks for the info. I'm sure I will get hung a lot.

Lol some trips I will get hung a few time the whole day and never break off. Other days I get hung and break off 20 times. I have had 7 rods that all had broke off jigs on them within 1-2 minutes. It’s a love hate relationship with spider rigging lol
Where do you fish mostly? If you fish wheeler, I’d be glad to help you out. Everybody does it a little different, you just have to find the way that you like doing it.
Shoot me a PM if you have more questions. I’m not the best at it by no means, but I catch my fair share of fish trolling
4 or 6 pound Mr Crappie for me also....
Cheap and yellow.

I use 10 lb. hi-viz for my main line. My 2 hook rigs are tied from 6 lb. line. I do get hung a lot but don't usually loose everything.
For most everything I use - SlimeLine, 6 or 8 lb this line is the brightest line i have seen so far.
I used different colored braid as mainline on my rods with a sinker on my braid, then a bead and a small swivel, I then pretie my fluro leaders with a loop in the end and jig of choice on the other. The reasons for doing it this way is the different colored braid is easier to untangle, which is gonna happen, I place the sinker on the braid because I rarely ever break off a sinker just the leader, in 15 seconds I have a new one on and back in the water. Everyone has different ways of doing things this has just proved to be best for me. I don't spider rig like most people, they usually get out in open water and stay above structure, I drive my boat right in the brush where they live, its nothing for me to loose 20 to 30 leaders a day but we generally catch plenty of fish. Once again just the way we do it, God Bless and good luck.

I like the 6lbs slimeline, I also use the hi-vis in Vicious or Mr. Crappie
Stren Crappie HV line in 6#.
I don't spider rig a lot but when I do I like 20 lb braid with 12 to 14 lb floro. leader. i use the lightest wire hooks i can find. I use the jigs I get from Curtis Hobbs (light wire hooker) or similiar hooks if I fish minnards. I hate having to retie so Using this set up I usually straighten the hooks out.
Use braid if you don't mind the frustration of the tangles, I only use 6# HV gama panfish or viscous.
going to try slimeline hv this year.
10# Hi-Vis K9 for vertical fishing and 6# Hi-Vis K9 for longline trolling.
I use 20lb braid with 6lb leader or dbl minnow rigs!
