I'm in the blue streak (Lexington, Ky) but I'm not really all that trusting in weather predictions .... especially not after a so-called "dusting" turned into almost 17" of snow :Doh:

Oh yeah, I’m in south Arkansas about 50 miles north of the Louisiana line, just about right in the middle of the top of LA. We got about 6 inches so dry powdery snow last night and spitting fire n on today. Makes for great snow ice cream! So far, no power outages that I’ve heard of from my wifey & kids who are Facebook junkies. Just down right cold! Supposed to be 1 degree tonight. More snow forecasted for Wednesday & Thursday.....8-12 inches they say. Schools are all called off and going virtually......son is out 4 wheelin and I’m watching President’s Day documentaries on TV. Good one on now about JFK.
Sleeting all day here ... accumulation of 2"+ of sleet in some locales. More of the same on the way, plus some snow & freezing rain possibly added to the mix for the rest of the week.
Sounds like some time for some serious social distancing. Be careful Pappy.
The news showed the influence of arctic warming on the polar vortex dipping so far South. I wonder how cold it is in Paris?
Yep, normally the jet stream is your friend down south, but not this time. A real nasty anomaly. We’re bracing for a good blast tomorrow here in the NE.Quote:

We ended up getting around 14 inches. So far, no loss of power....we got nearly all dry powdery snow, not much sleet at all. I did hear my awning creaking & groaning so I got my leaf blower and a ladder and blew most of the snow off of it yesterday afternoon. No more groaning now, except from my wife, who is just about stir crazy with me, our two 20+ kids and three dogs all in the house. Mama is just about like a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs! She did make a crock pot full of pork chops & taters that made for a very good meal for dinner tonight. Now for dessert......my 10th batch of snow ice cream. I’m on my second can of Eagle Brand milk now........takes me back to just about my earliest memory of snow. My dad always made it and still does. I checked on him and he said he’s warm, watching Grit TV westerns all day, and he’s got plenty of instant oatmeal and snow ice cream. That old man is fine. :)
All those without power I truly feel for. I just know that somewhere there are people right now who are in dire straits and here I sit eating snow ice cream. Makes me feel kinda guilty. I did see a whole group of electric trucks from Mississippi parked in the Atwood’s parking lot yesterday. Not sure if they were headed for Texas or not. You all take care.
Thin coating of ice out there this morning here in SE PA. Glad I don’t have to go anywhere today if I don’t want to. (And I don’t want to!)
