Fish don't care what rods you use. I like different lengths so I can stagger them.
I tightline out the front with two 16', two 14', two 12'. Loneliness out the back with two 12', and two 10'.

One of the issues is keeping the lines from shorter rods out of the TM. First time I tried it I had a 9’, couple of 7’s and a 6’6”. Run whatcha brung.
I have 4 14ft and then use 10ft and a couple of 9ft. Sometimes I just use the 4 14’s . My rod holders hold a total of 7 rods
I prefer the exact same rods across the spread. Also run the same weight rigs one each. That way if one tip is different thatn the rest I know it's a bite or dragging brush/bottom.
The point of running longer rods is to get the bait away from the boat. For me, I want them all as far away as possible. That, plus my OCD wants everything exactly the same. I run all 16s when pushing.

If it will hold line that can be tied to a hook , that will hold a minnow ,it will work . Started off with cane poles with safety pins as line guides . Many on here has as well . Some may work better than others but in 20 ft. of water put the trolling motor on the rear and use 5 1/2 ft rods off the front . Can't get the rods away from the trolling motor ? Move the trolling motor .
get a couple more for the lonliness problem in the back. lol just funnin.Sent from my SM-A102U using Crappie.com Fishing mobile app
I run all the same rods and biggest reason I like them all the same is because when I’m watching them if I look away and look back if one is sitting different I know something is up.... some time crappie will just grab it and swim with it but if that tip sits different from the rest set the hook

To add a comment when choosing, and after reading a earlier post in this thread, on Ross Barnett I catch fish spider rigging only as a last resort. I don't carry heavy egg sinkers or like to have a bunch of added weight on my rod when fishing. Single poling is 95% of what I do so, due to the boat wakes on Ross Barnett especially above the 43 bridge, I happen to switch to spider rigging. Well the stiffer spider rigging rods were not catching anything but I had 2 WM Solo's, 12 footers with me, one on each side, and they were catching everything. The limber tip section in the fast action rods was absorbing the added movement from the boat wakes, presenting my jigs in a more palatable presentation. Caught a lot of fish that day by accident.
