Well I just rolled out with my Chin High yesterday afternoon expecting to show my Southern Pro Original Stingers just WHO was Boss. NaDa! The only bite my jig got was this bass. Very fun too catch, buuuuuttttt, not what I was after. I was in Crappie, was watching on Panoptix, bite after bite on the Stingers. Going back to the rubber, threw back 3-4 for one keeper on Stingers and leave the tying to the professionals.

I fish hand ties year round 90% of the time, sometimes adding a nibble if needed. They definitely put fish in the box. If you don't have confidence in them, you'll be reaching for that plastic rod sooner than later.

I use the plastics to find out what they want and then go to a similar hand tie and just catch fish, not change torn up plastic bodies.
sometimes what i want to use is not what they want to eat ......just saying

Slab sauce or crappie nibbles work on hair jigs as well as plastic. Try that and go back after those crappie who disrespected your lure. You can do this. I know tied jigs work. I do catch fish with them. I keep Arkie jigs for the Rez since getting my southern end handed to me 10+ years ago on Ross Barnett. They only wanted a 1/16 Arkie in Black / Black Silver Chinelle body. Well Arkie didn't make that anymore, my Bud who introduced me to the Rez (RIP) gave me a 2 day spankin' with those jigs. All you got to do is something like that and it's "ON"! My father retired and was a crappie guide on Toledo until he passed, he tied and fished bucktails almost exclusively. Funny thing is I tied several of the little bucktails, different colors that the crappie was eating in rubber and the only bite period was the bass in the picture. Seems the profile was way off for their mood. BPS has the BGBS on sale so between the 3 amigos here we bought over 300 packs.
I inherited all my fathers old jighead molds, Kip tails (boxes), hooks, lead pots, tied jigs, etc and used some of his stuff to make the bucktails since all my stuff is for Saltwater Flies. There was a Do-It mold still in the bag, its got to be at least 35 years old, was supposed to be 1/32 with #8 hook but weighed out close to 1/24 instead. I cut the collar off of that jighead to tie up the bucktails. A 1/24oz jighead will be perfect on the Rez this spring.
If I quit using something because they didn't bite it one particular day....I would run out of things to use. Try it again.
