The most the ville ,the biggest sangchris .I only fish central il lakes . Fished my first crappie tournament at carlyle last fall caught 100 crappie ,with largest 7 weighed 8# only time on carlyle. From what I hear rend is loaded with crappie.
I think ichabod is right. Central section of the state is the best. I have fished most of it but the four he mentioned are in the top percentile most of the time. The 'ville is in the cycle now at the top of its potential . Clinton should not be over looked either.
For me, I’d go with shelbyville for the numbers of crappie and mill creek for size. Mill creek also has a really good black crappie population. The only problem with mill creek , it’s $30.00 per day to launch a boat or $150.00 for a yearly pass. Keeps a lot of pressure off the lake though.

Lake Decatur is great crappie producer that nobody rarely talks about. Mikes tackle world probably the best family owned tackle/bait shop you could ever hope to find in your lifetime can attest to what I am saying
For me the most in a day Mill Creek biggest Lake Sara
The silent Gem of Illinois is lake Decatur!! Hands down there is so much structure to be found on your finders and everyone seems to produce keepers
Yikes!Quote:
You saying it's worth the $78.50 Boat fee??
Is that a daily fee or a yearly fee?
Yearly. It's what keeps me from fishing there, plus I've never been on the lake.

I agree on numbers at Mill Creek. It's my home lake, I fish it every chance I get and it's a fantastic crappie lake.
Mill creek is super high launch fees as well. Pound for pound I would fish Decatur over it any time. Less pressure/better facilities/great local bait shops.. you are not getting these amenities at the other place
Yeah if your using a boat
Cant beat Rend in the fall for both numbers and size.
Do not fish Rend but I’ll trust you.. believe me when I say Decatur is a diamond in the rough

I live in Westfield, about 5 miles west of Mill Creek. If you fish it often we've probably seen each other at the lake. Caught my PB there on Sunday, 15.5".Quote:
I fish Mill Creek often.....great lake. I would consider it my "home lake" as well. I live in Marshall.....where are you from?
