The Great Debate

Yes there it is , yet another debate ! :yikes
what color is best maybe ?
what version of livescope is best ?
what boat is the best ?
is shallow or deep the best ?
is plastic or feathers the best ?
do painted heads really work ?
will live bait outfish an artificial ?
heck lets talk dog breeds too ....
or maybe weather patterns ....
or what lake is the best ...?
or maybe what state is the best ....Texas for sure on that one ....:Rofl
but in the end even with all the various opinions and wonderful shared information from all the many experienced crappie anglers around these parts i have noticed the ....
one debate that never seems to come up ??? :dono
this debate is really important and i have yet to see some dialogue on the subject ?
so lets start the debate ......
should you eat ....
CRAPPIE TACOS or CRAPPIE TOSTADAS is the question .....:crazy:
we tried them fishes both ways the other night , it was little complicated though
you need some fillets in larger pcs for a great taco is my thoughts
and you really need to do nuggets for the tostadas
so with no further ado ....
let the great debate for whats on the plate begin :popcorn

We fried oysters, crawfish tails, 16-20 shrimp, and bell pepper rings yesterday for lunch and those pictures still make my mouth water. You just can't beat a crappie taco with a sweet & sour slaw. Crappie TACO gets my vote.

crappie tacos as done like stated are one of those items that are difficult NOT to over eat on for sure .
the tostadas were only because we were out of taco shells and still had some nuggets left from my daughters favorite nuggets version on fried crappie.
there is in fact a method to my madness although some never see it :Rofl

It is on my opinion that you cannot beat a Crappie TACO. The tortilla is a natural catcher of items. Tostada = failure of holding your materials in place as soon as you bite into it.

This is the beer batter that was given to me by my mom. Whom she convinced a street vendor in Rosarito, Baja California to give it too her. I have tweaked it a little with the addition of garlic powder and paprika to kick it up a notch!

The tacos get my vote but I like soft corn tortillas better than hard shell.

Fantastic tacos pictured above! His Beer Batter looks perfect, execution into the grease would earn a score of 10 in a diving competition!

The assembly is a photo finish too........

I could eat those tacos everyday. Looks fantastic.

It’s Saturday and granddaughter expects Crappie for sure. Dusted with Andy’s and fried in my 10” iron skillet (nobody else touches it) lol ( was my grandmother’s handed down to me by my mother)
Grandboy here too, however he’ll be eating 17.00 ribeye steak. ( not a fish eater)
Salad and Mac and cheese and probably carrots or peas.
I just love cooking for them.
Makes my day when granddaughter eats more Crappie than me and the wife. Usually have to remind her to eat the sides.
Don’t get much better than that. She is 2nd grade and he is in 5th.
Growing up too fast.

I have to admit we prefer the tacos . We have grown fond of the crispy version , but there is a place set in stone in my heart for crappie tacos on soft tortillas as well :highfive

I'm all about soft tacos, we warm ours up on the griddle before construction begins, an Asian Slaw, homegrown tomatoes diced on top, and fresh avocado. I do a buttermilk fish fry coating on the fish, lots of crunch for texture complexity.
