I would like to have a few hair jigs to experiment with in the spring. I have never used hair jigs before as I have always used plastic. I’m looking to you guys for recommendations on brands and best colors.
Thanks in advance for your help!

I like craft fur myself; it is quite durable. As for colors my go to is char. green.
A simple marabou-and-chenille jig is all you need. (It's feather, not hair.) All of the big box stores carry them, and there are members here who tie them.

Agree marabou jigs are still well made. Get some White and some chartreuse. Add a crappie nibble or some slab sauce.
Limits tackle makes some nice hand ties as well!
I personally love buckttail,,,Blue and chartreuse my favorites colors
PM me your address and I'll send you some different kinds and you can decide for yourself....

I like Calf Tail for small jigs and craft fur for larger. Each person will have their own preference.
not be a smarty ...but "hair jigs" are a winter bait .....
not really a spring bait in these parts ....
just saying my friend ...
start now , why wait
they have really subtle movements when held still and are flat out deadly in real cold water :highfive
Get yourself some supplies and a vice and watch some videos on you tube and tie your own. Doesn’t take but a few minutes to tie them and you’ll get better each time you sit at the vice. Copy the patterns you like.

Nothead Tackle !!!!! They have hair and feather jigs, lots of colors and weights.
Personally I like to like to use marabou for verticle jigging and under a cork. I troll and cast using a hair jig.

Find a dog that has fine fur hair. My border collies do which is unlike German Shepard hair which is more course. Fine fur action is similar to the subtle action of marabou feather both of which well even under a float. Feather is the finest material and comes in many colors:

...but fur has a bulkier body shape:

Both catch fish equally well. I add a thin plastic trailer at times.
Coon tail makes a fine tail, squirrel has a more subtle action, both should work well.
I've been using my own hair. The jigs look good, but then I am a handsome fella.
Some Trump orange hair would be killer here in the summers!
if you look up crappie jigs on etsy some guys there have some really nice colors with really nice jigs. I am happy with JedanFliesnjigs
