What is the best way to fish there?
Tight lining, trolling or pitching to cover?

I would tight line along the shore in 16 to18 foot of water. If you went directly across from the ramp to the other side and set up rods to run 15 to 18 foot and bump along at .3 or .4 mph provided you have 3/4 oz. lead on bottom with your hooks up 16 to 18 inches from the lead. Head down to the dam and just look for them close to the bottom or suspended. Got to warn you the area has lots of logs jammed in that area. This is a low lying area that is a catch all for everything that comes down river. If you find them they should be good size. You may have to zig zag and follow the contour of the bottom. Don't be scared to circle around and cover the same area again if you find them. Hope you get into some nice fish. I know when we fished there on a couple of night stalks we had some two pounders and a lot of one pounders easy. Good luck! :fish

I would troll 2 1/16th oz jigs.
12 to 15 ft deep. You can long line or use a split shot about 18"above your top jig.
Longline about .7 to 1.1 mph.
Or slow troll about .3 to .5 mph.
Look for channel edges or points.
Dock shooting or brush piles may be good to. Never done much of either.
Night fishing I look for a Creek channel or secendary channel 20 to 30 ft deep and tight line. I fish 3 to 6 rods and different depths to locate the crappie. Then fish the depth of most bites. I will normally keep 2 lines at different depths just in case they move up or down. And I use plenty of light at the water to draw in the bait fish.

Not sure. I normally fish at night so I tight line under lights.
Dress warm even if it's not super cold. It can change up on the water fast, specially if the wind picks up.
I would try both trolling methods for a time. Say give long-lining an hour. If the bite is super slow, switch to slow trolling for an hour.
If you need to switch to brush piles or docks.
That's what I would do if it was me. Maybe someone else can help you further than I can. I'm still trying to learn all this myself.

P you already know the answer to that, fish the same as you always do with your jigs in the water! Water temp was 54 degrees on Wylie the other evening. Tight lining is what we did and pretty much do all the time. Find the bait and adjust to the depth you see them. Water is dirty now where we where. One's we caught were moving not holding to anything.:highfive

Dead Sea? You sure you wasn't at Norman? That's what we used to call in back in the 70's and 80's.
Before they started stocking it again. For years the only thing to catch there was small channel cats and bream. Stripers, white bass, the Big Crappie all dead off or was caught to the point there wasn't anything descent to catch.
Hate you only found one crappie.
