My baby Daccus and his breed are extremely loving to their family..he's just a big baby. They need a Responsible owner, who can take the time to Socialize them early and properly train them.
They will keep your fishing spots clear of "pay-lakers", and they really don't like strangers getting close to you!
They will also keep order at boat ramps, parking lots, etc.
He loves water and napping in the sun! If you get hungry he will also bag a deer if needed!lol
One of the crappie guides here has a daschound that goes evertime He does

I have a boxer and she will come with me and just sit on the shore and sniff the fish. Can't take her out in the kayak though, it's inflatable rotfl

Best dog I ever had was my beloved Yellow Lab Zoe. I got her from lab rescue North Carolina while I was stationed at Fort Bragg. What a lifesaver, she got me through some dark times after Iraq and Afghanistan. RIP June 26, 2015

also agree with having a mutt from the pound usually always turn out to be great dogs.
They are the part of our day that is always the same. They lift us up and remind us that we’re loved no matter what the day has brought our way. Mine don’t fish but I wouldn’t be without them. I’ve had a couple that meant the world to me.
We should all strive to be the people that our dogs think we are.
