People tend to stop giving reports when that’s the only thing you ask for.

No problem. My boat has been broke down and in the shop for a month. And to top that off my wife has just had surgery and I have been playing nurse for two weeks. But if this forum is made of smart ass bull**** then I want no part anyway. Thanks for your kind answer.

Karma is the best thing that can happen to a person of your stature.

I have had the pleasure of knowing several nice folks on here such as Mac Crappie, Sea Dancer and Mbsbeek but this one smartass has done it for me. I wish most of you good fishing except for the forementioned ignorance. I’m done with this site.

Didn’t intend to harm your feelings but there’s tournaments going on. People aren’t likely to give up that information until after the tournament is over with. No need to ruffle feathers over a simple comment.

Then maybe you should have mentioned the tournament thing instead of making a snarky comment towards the guy. Tournaments really do bring out the worst in some people. Shame
Ya know I don’t think Clarke had any ill intent, there are a lot of takers and far less givers, if someone wants to give something that’s great but when you get someone asking for hey where have you been catching fish folks are a lot less willing, and I believe that’s was clarkg’s Angle
A person that goes on his own finds his own fish does not owe it you you to share what he has put in his time money and work for, so don’t get so wound up
This site is not about hey I caught 50 over at such and such ya’ll all come over here and getem too
The thing I enjoy most about fishing is figuring them out, dailing them in on that particular day
Thanks Nater and Mac Crappie for the help. That was all I needed. I wasn’t asking for any spots but a simple report like you all gave. And as I always do I will post a report for everyone after I get back tomorrow. I just didn’t want to waste too much time going somewhere they weren’t biting good. Thanks!

It used to be.
When this board became more of a tournament board all that went away. My late friend Mr Wilson was the biggest advocate for getting more folks on the water, especially through this board. Now that it’s more of a tournament crowd, these more of a secret fishing hole situation. I’m not a tournament guy, seems wrong to me. What’s next competitive picnicking? Lawn chair competition? I’ve been slapped by the mods on here before for saying so. But I get it, it’s a good time, great way to hang with buddies, show off your chops, maybe learn a little something, maybe make some $$$. But it’s taken a lot away from this board. It’s better now than it was a few years ago, and it’s the newer members helping that along, like the guy who asked the original question. Keep asking pal, don’t quit the board over it.
I never asked for that either! Just a simple report since I haven’t been in a while. Just common help.

Best thing you can do, is just go. Plan on a skunk. if you get some, celebrate it. I’ve been fishing a long time (I don’t hunt, trap, drink, or work for that matter) and the trick to fishing is learning what doesn’t work. Every zero is a win. The internet is just a shortcut and usually ends up being more of a headache than it’s worth. We caught plenty of fish before people started writing reports on little plastic boxes and screens.
I was planning on doing that Nater. I usually look at NWS the day before and do read some fishing reports to help me generalize a lake but yes Through trial and error I will find them on my own. I was a very active participant on this site and Roy timely gave fishing reports until my boat gave up last year. I bought a get me by boat this year until I can find a new one I want and first time out it broke down. So I haven’t got to fish since last year and lost the time and movement bubble. Just trying to get some basic ideas after the big rain we had last week. Thanks for your assistance.

Thanks Nater and I agree with your attitude towards fishing. If I do good I had rather pass on as much information to the next guy so he can do good too! To me that is almost as fun as catching them. It makes me feel good to help somebody else if I can.

Ya know this kinda goes off the mentality of I work hard put in my time money effort and I’m wrong if I don’t share what I find or have
If everyone knew of the same great spot how long do you think it would be so great? I’m being real here, do you think that there is an endless supply?
If you had a certain ridge that you killed deer or turkeys off of every year would you/could you tell thousands of people on the World Wide Web and expect it to continue to be great, would you want to be made to feel bad if you didn’t? How long do you think a place would be good once you shared it with the world? This isn’t a exclusive club with a few members it’s the whole world, how many folks do you think locally read this and never post? But would gladly venture over to wherever you bragged about?
You say this board used to be like that, guess why it’s not, folks got tired of helping a guy out then the next time they show up there are 20 boats there, a few years back I started making YouTube videos (catchinkevin), I quit because folks could see where I was at and wasn’t able to keep fishing my spots with near the same success, yes it got that bad
We used to have a fella on here I forget his name but he was originally from up north somewhere, red headed guy as best I can remember nice fella gave very good detailed reports, we’ll he gave this one report about Robeson creek one time then the next time he went he said he could barely idle through the creek, you ought to search it on this site, his username will come back to me eventually, history repeats itself but if your fine with having a lot of company then so be it
Ya see I’m just really trying to help you because I’ve walked this rd before
Again, I wasn’t asking for any spots anywhere. I was asking a simple fishing report the same way it has been on here for years. Example, “I fished Jordan today and caught around fifty fish. About 20 of those were dunks and the rest were keepers. About eight of those went 14 inches with the biggest being 16 inches. Caught them mainly in the mouths of creeks in 20 ft of water down about 12 feet. Water was clear and 62 degrees. Used jigs and jigs tipped with minnows”. There was no mention about a “ spot” or about color of jigs or weight of jigs or type fishing pole. Common courtesy goes a long way.

Why not give a little help? just because you catch fish at doc "A" to day dose not mean that they will beat their tomorrow, they could be on a brush pile in the next creek.
I get what you are saying but in my example I didn’t even mention a specific area or anything. I just can’t and won’t ever be able to be like that. If somebody needs a little direction and I have it then I will gladly give it. Thanks for your input.

In my line of work a “report” is who, what, when and where, very specific
I hope you find some fish and have a good time doing it
My Father went to Robeson Creek a few years ago and got a good mess of crappie. He decided to go back the next day. It may have been a rookie error, but someone posted on here that the fish were biting in Robeson. Next day it was slammed end-to-end with boats.
One thing I will say about tournament fishing is the tremendous amount of knowledge I have learned from other folks. There are a lot of nice guys that have helped coach me and I am a better fisherman today because of their help.
Agree and thanks. We don’t have to be specific about locations and color of jigs but if just rained 9.5 inches a couple of days ago it can’t hurt to let people know if has cleared up or a mud hole.

After reading all these comments, I agree with both sides. I have to share my store that set me off:
As many know I prefer striper/hybrid fishing over anything. I was on a hot bite about 4ish years ago (before i started guiding) and posted something about it here and mentioned that im going the next day at a particular ramp. I kid you not that next morning I had 4 boats idling awaiting my arrival. I did send them on a goose chase going elsewhere, but lesson learned.
I get bombarded by questions from time to time here. I do not mind. But those asking id assume respect the fact that they are getting answers from 15-18+ years of knowledge learned from trial and error. A lot of time spent, lots of gas burned. I can give someone advise on where to go, but it doesnt mean they can catch them.
I agree Pete, you don’t have to give up your hole but letting folks know the lake is clear and what depth you are doing good at doesn’t hurt.

The one point I will make on here is this. If you have nothing to offer then don’t offer negative thoughts to others. I will help anybody I can but some will not. We all agree on that.

Dont go fishing based off a report only. This is the internet. People will lie to you. Some of my worse days of fishing have been "chasing a report".
If the conditions are less than optimal, find a new section of lake, ride it, make a few casts (or pulls). If ya find something, but it in the memory bank to use it some other time!
A successful fishing trip has nothing to do with catching. If i pull up to the dock at the end of the day with everything working, nothing broken, all people accounted for, no one bleeding and hopefully smiles on the clients face, it was a dang good day! (of course a few jokes thrown in there).
Now tomorrow morning ill be taking a little ride to Badin with my puppy and see how the clarity looks like. Have several guys ready for a fishing trip with just a phone call once conditions are right. Ill let ya know what is seen.
Thanks Pete! I don’t rely on reports as I have been Crappie fishing 40+ years but since I have been on a hiatus for a year I just wanted to know if High Point, Badin or Jordan was clear after the rain and if they were biting. It was really innocent and non inclusive.

Caught plenty of fish at Jordan Tuesday. As strong as tht wind was, you can narrow down where I was fishing. Fish were in about 12-15' of water, but I'd assume the cold will push them a little deeper. Water temp was 62-63* where I fished, and about 61 at Ebeneezer ramp, where I put in at.
Thanks Jack - I will surely give a report tomorrow night when I am back.

Wind out north rite ? My guessing your in beaver creek
I wish the best of luck to everyone whenever they go fishin'... but more than anything that they stay safe and have lots of fun doin' it.
We all look forward to good reports and seein' everyone having their fair share of successes and struggles.
After all seein' people workin' their way through all of the learning curves to find success and/or bits and pieces thereof... is really what it's all about.
Here are my Tournament Results so far this fall:
Highrock: 3 Crappie; Did not Weigh in.
Badin: 0 Crappie; Did not Weigh in.
Santee Cooper: 5 Crappie; Weighed In. Big Fish 1.9.
Finished 18th out of 21.
Did I learn something each time? YES!
Personally I've come to enjoy Tournament Fishing. Will be back at it this weekend at Jordan :)
Took the time to read entire thread and still shaking my head. All the person ask for was a fishing report. Your interpretation of a report may vary from theirs but "come on man" we are talking about a fish here, not gold find. What is so hard about, fishing is good, fishing is bad, water is high, water is low, water is clear, water is muddy. If you feel threatened by answering these questions, you probably ain't gonna be fishing long anyway.
