I fished Limestone today, same tactics little spinner on the banks and single pole on isolated cover with marabou. I kept a limit and returned many short fish. The water had risen few inches since last week and had dropped to 64 degrees. The fish were less aggressive, but still caught plenty. No slabs today, just eaters.

As you said earlier that front didn't hurt em much. You proved that for sure I went yesterday as well. I caught 3. I made my usual passes.

You're obviously catching them under a bridge somewhere and then giving us false info. LOL. I fish a lot of the same areas you do. I've been out three times the past couple of weeks, and I haven't had a good trip yet.
Keep up the good work and though.
I think chasing them shallow year round is a little different than main lake fish. They seemed to be more effected by sunlight in clear water than cold fronts that effect main lake fish.
Bait always seems to be key no matter where you are chasing Crappie. Right now the upper end of Limestone has huge, black balls of small shad. When you throw into the schools and let the bait sink underneath you catch Crappie, gills, catfish, bass and strip. Everything is feasting right now. All the Crappie I cleaned look like spring females they were so stuffed with shad.
I'm probably not holding my mouth right, but I think I've just picked some slow days too. I really haven't seen baitfish in large quantities like usual.
Obviously I need to go fishing more.

I'm not hopefully since the rain may blow it out, but let's all hit Limestone Saturday morning.
We should be able to pull out a half limit even with less than great conditions! Maybe learn a few new tactics between us. I've been meaning to try jig and float and that should be really good in the shallow water.
We recently moved way out to Leighton AL. I still work on Wall Triana, so I've been packing my kayak for after work trips. I was thinking about taking the time to find some spots closer to home this weekend. But, I might change my mind if y'all are going to be catching fish without me. I'll watch the weather, and this thread, and see what the boss lady has planned for Saturday.Quote:
