Testing Amped 32 amp hour battery today . Kept a good limit with same Huckabee Phantom live scope rod . Purple/Chartreuse Umbrella tubes rigged on Timmy Tom insert jig heads . The battery was amazing . Ran 1242 and Black box 9.5 hours . Started on 16.1 volts and 9.5 hours later it was 14.1 volts .

Nimrod, if that battery dropped 2 volts in 9.5 hours, how long to you think it will operate the scope before it dies? I have been told that when a lithium goes dead, there's no warning, it's just dead

It is rated at 14.8 but will charge to 16.8. It shuts off at 12 volts they say . I figure I had several more hours of use . That is good running a 12'' unit and black box . The battery weighs less than 5 pounds . The 32 amp hour runs higher volts and that is trouble with 12 volt lead acid they go low on voltage . The charger comes with the 32 ah from Amped . Nimrod, I bought the Echomap UHD 73sv on sale at Basspro Wednesday I believe and am going to get the livescope transducer too. I have been hearing that it needs to be connected to a dedicated battery power source. After reading a few of these post I have been researching how to install it on my Ranger 188C. I don't know exactly how to run a power cable or the bestway to get it to the front of the boat nor do I know the best battery to purchase. Can you please give me your opinion and maybe even a picture of your setup. Thanks

I bought two of the Dakota Lithium battery 12 volt 10 amp so when one ran down while on the water I could keep on fishing. The original still last about 6 hours but the newer one only last about 3 hours now. I have used them a lot over the last year but I honestly don't see a benefit over my old lead batteries other than weight. Lifespan wise I'm getting a year's worth from lead and the lithium batteries. I am interested in Nimrod's and Super Dave's new batteries though. The 40 cost less than the 42 so I'm real curious how they compare. I really like the lightweight of the lithium battery and if it 40 & 42 holds up for them I 'll probably buy one as well.
One I bought was 32 Amp Hour only weighs 4.8 lbs . Lasts 16 hours with 1242 and black box for live scope .Quote:

It will work that's what I used for awhile. I switched to the lithium batts for a few reasons:
Weight, I switch the unit between my jon boat and my bass boat. Already have 3 batts in the skeeter and don't have room for a 4th. Jon boat has 1 crank batt and 1 tm batt. Do not want to add another
I was supposed to get way more charges out of the lithium opposed to a lead batt. Thought I was going to pay more up front but save over time. I'm not seeing that.
In my opinion I feel it is best to have a dedicated batt for the livescope system. It will eat up power kind of fast. I don't really want to use my cranking batt on either boat to run LS and the trolling motor batts are needed to stay all day long.
KWW, weight was not an issue for me so I used a plain old lead marine battery. I use the Wal Mart Brand marine battery, $109. I'm getting 3 years of use out of them on my trolling motor so in 3 years I figure I'll spend $109 on a livescope battery. :-) Yes I went the cheap way. I'm getting 3-4 days use from one battery if I don't charge it, but it gets charged most days to keep it in top condition. I too didn't want it on my cranking battery. I just opted for the extra lead battery and deal with the weight.
Could you please post pictures of your set up, mount etc. I would love to move mine between my jon and bass boat just not smart enough to make it work so far. Thanks

You can see the mount I made for my jon boat. On my skeeter I ditched the pole and just attach to the TM shaft. On skeeter wires are routed through bow access plate and runs to a batt in one of my rod lockers. Head unit is mounted with original gimbal on the floor.

I used these , just cut off one end and solder on flat blade connectors for battery . They will allow you to plug into charger or unit . Just make sure and wire polarity correctly .Quote:

FYI Amazon has Ampere time Lithium 12 Volt 50AH batteries right now for $199 and they're built just as good as whoever is building Amped batteries. These also have real terminal bolts. No flimsy spades like the amped or worrying about breaking one off.
