Absolutely not.
Definitely not. I use 1/64, 1/32 and 1/24 jigs almost exclusively.

Hey, Cole ... I use 1/32oz & 1/16oz heads with a #2 Aberdeen hook in both sizes ... so, any of the three in your pics will work fine. Use the head size (weight) for rate of fall ... and the hook size for the size plastics you put on your jighead, so that the gap between the hook point and back/top of the plastic bait is big enough to allow the hook point room to hook the fish easily (as shown in your pic of the rigged jig/plastic).Quote:

catch them every spring on 1/64 and 1/80 oz jigs, even now.
thank you ! I am using the plastic in the picture just for a comparison to show what it looks like. thanks again! I just wanted to make sure that my hook sizes weren't to big or small to hook crappie (or too far up the bait)

Hate the barbs located that far back. Fine for solid bodies but tube jigs are gonna keep pulling down.

I’d say you’re in business. My size goes from 8 to 2, mostly smaller stuff lately but bigger for trolling.
top 2 jigs heads are ok for a start , the collars will eat your plastics up fast .
line weight should be 6 lb .

Small is good as many lures emulate small fry and every thing that swims eats fry.
The small lures work quite well especially during the hard water season.
My go to lures range from 1/45 to 1/16 once with # 10 to #6 hooks.
In the middle look like #4 hook, which is my stardard hook for crappie. I use #2 sometimes when the bite get aggressive and crappie trend to swallow the whole jig, but the jig get snagged a lot too. Most of 1/32oz head come with #6 which also work fine for crappie but there will be a lot of deep hooking. I order custom 1/32oz with #4 sickle hook.
Yeah that’s what I got. The middle got a #6 and the bottom got a #7. The big on at the bottom is #4 but is a bit long, it comes out right at the end of a 2” baby shad or paddle tail or whatever.Quote:

Don’t neglect feather (marabou) jigs. 1/32 and 1/16 oz are deadly. You can catch loads on one jig, and you don’t have to worry about matching jig head to body.Quote:

All my jigs I have been swimming really really slowly, even in the heat of summer. But I’ve been fishing an old one lane bridge that’s been closed off to vehicle traffic. Casting upside down under the bridge as far as I can and slowly cranking it back...it works.

I only use ball head jigs: 1/24 oz with #6 hook. It's in between a 1/32 and 1/16 oz, hook sizes #8, 6, 4, also used depending on lure length especially , speed and type of retrieve and depth fished. No collar ever. 6 lb test diameter line also crucial for light lures.

No way to be to small . I keep one rod with 1/100 with a #3 split shot 10 inches above it . The small pop eye jig from Leland lures will get slammed by finicky fish on Grenada .

Hey, a picture speaks a thousand words especially when they include fish caught. I store 312 photos on an on-line site and over 1000 shots in various folders stored on the pc and a memory stick. The variations are incredible when it comes to lure shapes and size combinations that have caught and will catch fish of different species.
Memory is not a good way to recall what you used three years ago on a certain lake and time of year that caught fish. A fishing buddy only catches fish on a Crappie Magnet / red body-chartreuse tail and does almost as well, but lure variety and presentations keeps my interest. Using only one or a few lures a few ways - NOPE!
