Sufix Nanobraid 2lb
Being a fan of nanofil’s casting qualities I’m always looking for a tougher version without the lack of abrasion resistance. Deepfry got some of this and showed it to me a couple of months ago. Gotta say how impressed I was in the grass lot behind the store. Very small diameter at .001 and more like a bigger line in construction. With backing behind, the spool was split and 75 yards went on a President 20 size. Put it on a 5’6” Fenwick with a 1/48 head and stepped into the backyard. Did a few casts with both that and my existing Nanofil rod. The Sufix went about 10’ further. Another foot and my neighbor could have given his opinion too. I like what I see so far. When the river quits going outside it’s normal banks and the fish come home, I’ll give an update on its on the water personality. So far as I know, tackle warehouse carries it. Hope this gives someone an option.

I have often wondered about the Sufix Nanobraid but have never got around to trying it. Maybe one day soon.

You got my interest, I was gonna order a spool to try the last time. I use mostly 4 and 6lb Nanofil. Were you comparing 2lb to 2lb? How strong is 2lb Nanobraid or Nanofil. I think my 6lb leader could brake before 4lb Nanofil.

I used 2 lbs Nanobraid for a while in saltwater. It was way too supple for my taste, but among domestic offerings it was probably one of the best overall, in my opinion. Just a word of caution: it is much stronger than advertised. I couldn't break it brand new when lifting a 8 lbs bag. It also happens to be much thicker than advertised, but that is certainly not so important as long as you're happy with its casting performance.

I have the line as well. I really like it for the price but as others have said, it breaks much higher than is advertised.

I have to admit I’m not a purist. If it will cast the really light jigs, like the 2lb Nanofil does, I’m on board. I’ve dealt with it’s poor traits to enjoy its good traits. If this Sufix is tougher as advertised, it will become my new favorite. If the Sufix breaks over two lb, so be it.
just bass, I was comparing both in 2lb, and I use a Stren mono 4lb leader. I also use 4lb Nanofil and like it with a 1/16 and have caught Shad and hybrid and LMB that put it to a good test and it held up fine. I’ve had good fish to the boat with the 2lb Nanofil only to have it part in the middle of the line, fish was just bigger than it could stand. Hasn’t happened often but happen it did.
Thanks for all the interest and input. More when I have it.

I guess I’m gonna have to get me one of those 2lb Nanobraid. The 4-6lb Nanofil still hold up good even though a lot of frayed and bump. So the 2lb Nanobraid is smaller or about the same diameter as 4lb Nanofil.

I throw alot of Bobby Garland itty bitty plastics on 1/48 jig heads. I have been using nanofil but like you stated it is not very abrasive resistant. I been wanting to try the nanobraid and you have just given me incentive to buy a spool. Thank you sir for the review.

Grain, odd to find someone that uses almost identical gear that I do. The Itty Bitty slabslayers put a lot of fish in my hand.
The package for the Sufix says that it’s .001, the same as I remember the Nanofil stated for the 2lb. Still waiting for a chance to get it wet.

Haven’t forgotten this. The river has just now gone down to where folks are getting into the backcountry where I like to fish. Soon.........

Thanks for the report. I've been using 3# Fireline Crystal on one of my UL set ups for about 9 months. I've been happy with it but always up for trying something different. My biggest complaint with these tiny braids is being able to see it well enough to rig up lures and tie knots!

Well, I finally got out with the Sufix and the river finally went down. Down side was the front that went through Christmas Eve. Been cold and clear with high pressure since. The warmest day since then, it went into the 60’s today and having been sick not long back I wasn’t against waiting for the right time. I pulled the trolling stuff from the boat and threw in the UL stuff and headed out. After it warmed up some from 40 this morning.
My 5’6” Fenwick UL, medium taper rod with a President 20 size and the 2lb Sufix Nano braid I was throwing the favorite 1/43 #8 head with a Bobby garland Itty Bitty slab slayer. First cast I was impressed, what I consider very good distance compared to the Nanofil Ive been using for a few years now. I spend most of my time where I was today shooting into tight spaces among down trees and weed clusters, and it behaved admirably with no wind knots or loops to complain about. The wind was light at 5 to 7 mph, allegedly, and a plus was that it wasn’t blown around as badly as the Nanofil. I think the coating or bonding or whatever the difference is helped with this. I caught three fish today, two crappie and a stud bluegill, all of which would have gotten the invitation to dinner. The crappie in the attached picture fought like a stud gill and never gave up til he was in the boat, over 11” and full of himself. Sensitivity of the line was as good at least as the Nanofil letting me feel little gill pecks and branches I was pulling over. The overall personality of the line is very good with one downfall, that being it’s color. Being dark makes it tough to see and the only knots tied in it today was a double uni to join my normal 4lb clear mono leader and it gave me no issues. I have two spools of it with half a spool on this reel over a near full spool of 4 lb mono. My opinion is that it’s good stuff and I’ll be trying it in 4 and 6lb on a couple of rods in the near future. I have some 4lb Nanofil on a 6’6” favorite rod of mine and the complaint on durability is the same, hoping this fills the bill. That rod will cast a 1/16 25% further than any other rod I have because of the Nanofil and I don’t want to lose that.
That’s the best I can tell you about the Sufix 2lb nanobraid, I’m impressed overall and will put the other half spool on another rod. Hope this helps someone and I apologize for the wait for the report. Hope Christmas was good for everyone and I wish you a happy and healthy New Year. Tight lines...... Skeet

I shall see next season. Got the 2lb of Nanobraid to try. Still don’t know which reel since all of them have Nanofil and I just spool it last season. Good point about the wind, just little of it and Nanofil blow left right like crazy, but I can translate it as Nanobraid coating is heavier than Nanofil and would sink faster too??? I love Nanofil over braid on this slow sink especially on trout magnet when fishing super shallow for bluegill.

Looking forward to see what you think of it Justbass. I’ve only had it out once but like it so far. Hope it does what you’re looking for.
