Just like last week! Not even a sign of interest. Same set up as always, and I even tried two of the neighborhood ponds.
What gives?

What were you using? Someitmes when I get like that it is just a matter of swiching baits/presentaiton. The other day I was on the potomac and was just getting no luck on my jigs and as soon as I swiched to live worms BOOM! Caught a good amount. weird how it works like that sometimes :dono
Had a similar experience earlier today. Went to the local sunfish haunt in the early afternoon and fished from the bank for a couple of hours. It was an uncharacteristically slow but very sunny day, so I was able to watch the fish interact with my bait. This was a rare treat, given that most of the waters here are very tannic and stained. There were three decent shellcracker patrolling up and down the bank together, and no matter how many times I skipped a worm into their path, they wouldn't fall for it. They'd all gather around it, stare for a few seconds, then continue gliding on their way. Same story with trout magnets, honey worms, and jigs. Finally out of desperation I slipped a crappie nibble onto the hook and provoked the bite from a runt. For reference, I pulled 6 eaters from the same spot the preceding day on red wigglers and have hooked dozens there over the past week. Some days they just ain't buying what we're selling.
Same as always - a worm, a split shot, and a lighted bobber. I usually go out around 9:00, and get an hour or so in before bed. I did try a Powerbait in the "small fish" corner where my daughter fishes for a short period as well.
I did experiment with depth, as well as casted to a few different places.
Open to feedback, I have to assume this is related to the cooler temperatures. Was right around 70 last night.
Typically catch between 5 - 10 fish in a night.
Don't know anything about night fishing for sunfish types as I've never tried it. However, in the fall I have to increase my depth when fishing with a bobber. Usually I have to move out from the 3 - 6 foot depths I fish most of the spring and summer into nearby 5 - 8 foot depths. Bobber setting goes from 2 - 4 feet to 4 - 6 feet. That is usually the only adjustment I need to find the same fish I've been on earlier in the year. When it gets really cold I don't do any bobber fishing and just work jigs along the bottom from 8 - 15 feet deep.
Replied about fishing deeper with Beetle Spins yesterday + fish photos. Guess it got deleted.
That’s what I usually use so if I’m not using jigs. It is that simple! (I usually add a small splitshot weight). I try and keep the line taught so I can feel the bites on my rod, and I use a UL rod with a fast tip.

use a quill type float . it will stand up until it hits bottom or a fish and then it will lay flat on the water
You plumb the depth.

Try a small fly and bibber never fails I just made a video o. It and caught a lot of Sunny's!
Just got to the pond and ditched the bobber. Stay tuned

Empty handed AGAIN! Both ponds!

It is possible that your particular lake is "turning over". If that's the case the fish are only battling to stay alive.
One way to check depth is with a slip bobber. Keep adding depth till it doesn't float properly. Then make adjustments. Till just on or just off the bottom.

If I was a gambler I would have bet you didn't own a bobber

Next time you're in the mood for a Quill... Determine the depth.... Lighten the jig where it won't balance... Fish it horizontal... even the weariest of fish can't stand it.

You would lose that bet. I've posted loads about float fishing over the years. This thread is one example:
https://www.crappie.com/crappie/panf...r-gills-5.html
Discovered a few things about float fish:
Lately the fish have been deeper: 7' - shorelines seem to have been abandoned
Been using a 4# test f/c leader
Been rigging small plastics with thin action tails - finesse action all important!
Lure average less than 2" if the bite is slow - at first
A 1/24 oz or 1/32 oz ball head with #6 hook has done the trick with or without float
Float size can be medium in size and the fish of all species have no problem taking the float down - especially when there's a breeze & ripple under a partly cloudy bright sky

Three different waters produced gills, crappie, perch using the above in 60 degree water. Finesse tail action is key IMHO.
Something to consider.

P.S. - another setup that has been working occasionally using small curl tail or straight tail grubs on the overhead spinner:

Again, finesse action and small lure size used with slow retrieves with pauses are key. Fish may be near bottom or mid-depth.
i’m fishing at night with live bait, so unfortunately not all of this is relevant to what I’ve got going on. However you mention abandoning the shoreline, how far out should I be casting?
right after I posted I was packing up, and gave it one last cast. I went to the corner of the pond that is inconsistent, and did get a nibble. Twice I tried to set the hook unsuccessfully, likely because I used too much worm. On the third try the fish must have wised up and moved on.
Was mid 50s last night.
I've never fished for anything at night except crappie under a light and for bass using large lures. Good luck.
Skunked AGAIN tonight.
One little nibble in the corner a few feet off the bank where my daughter fishes, nothing else in 90 minutes.

Also I have had great luck downsizing to the trout magnets mini kit when the bite is slow
