MK tereova died
Went to lake this morning and TM wouldn't come on. Tested a couple things. Looked like one of the batterys shorted out. (I know I should've unplugged Tm). Replaced battery, have power all the way to the board in the TM but nothing coming out. Anything I'm missing? Or can I get a new board?
-
Probably burned the board out....you can replace the board.
-
Thank you. Where can I get a board?

Had the same thing happen to my minn Kota trolling motor. Checked everything. Ended up being a semi corroded wire going to the board. Cleaned, new terminal, and greased. Works like new. May try that if you haven’t spent money already

Bought new board , works great

Do you have a fuse or breaker on the positive battery post? If not put one off the positive post and attach all the positive leads to it.
-
I preach fuses. Very important!
Fuses however, do NOT protect the device. Fuses pop when something inside a device fails(like a board). They do however protect you. When a wire or device fails but remains energized lots of noxious smoke, heat, and fire can occur. In the case of unprotected wires they become like hot knives cutting through other wires and plastics or weld directly to metal. This can also cause the batteries to explode.
In rare circumstances the fuse itself is the device that fails and replacement is the fix, but thats the exception to the rule.

Edit: Baitwaster I see you stated this in your post I didn't read it carefully enough! :)
Baitwaster I tend to agree but I think fuses can protect the device some of the time. An example happened to me recently replacing the thermostat in my house. Being lazy I didn't disconnect the power from the furnace like I knew I should. Sure enough I touched two wires together and that was that, furnace stopped working. Troubleshooting I discovered a fuse on the furnace circuit had blown, replaced the fuse and back in business. It might not save your electronics under every situation, but it can it some circumstances.
