Welcome to the forum. There are tons of rods out there. What is your budget? Any ideas on length your wife would be interested in? Type of water you fish? Any info helps.
Bob
Bass Pro Microlite
Leland’s TCB
Those are two good ones, but there’s at least a hundred more that would also work just fine.
I sure like my 7 foot Outlaw light action rod...
HI Bob
as for length, i am not too sure, but i can say she has a daiwa rod now 5 1/2 ft med action with 4 lb mono line and she cannot get a 1 /32 oz lure 15 feet from the boat, so that is why i mentioned the rod that richard gene likes it is a 6ft eagle claw. i was looking att he TCB rod gets excellent reviews, but its pricy.

i was on the grizzly jig catalog, curious on the rod and reel on page 38 would be its called the teton trout combo.

There are a lot of fans of the Micro Lite here on the forum. I can speak to the Leland TCB rod. I have the very slightly different TSS version and it is a very nice, sensitive rod for the money. Might be worth spending a few extra bucks. 1/32 with bait will go mighty far.

well the bass pro micro lite in 6.6 is out of stock here at bass pro shops and cabelas in Hamburg pa, the more i see that teton trout combo over at grizzly jigs, maybe my wife would be happy with at for getting lighter lures a little further.

2X on the micro-lite.
Chetc, welcome to crappie.com. Come check out the Penna board too.
4 lb and a 1/32 should sail a half mile , on about any rod , might be the reel ?
My youngest son uses a 5'6" Shakespeare micro series light action with a smaller Shimano sienna reel,4lb test. Casts a long way. Whole combo easily under $50
Hard to beat the Sienna on a Micro Series rod in bang for the buck.
Here you go bud- Outlaw Crappie Poles - Outlaw Crappie Poles
Pole is well made and has good feel, you feel like the pole is an extension of your hand. My father in law and cousin both have them and like them as well.
i am the original poster about a rod for my wife to cast 1/32oz lures, i have a daiwa spinmatic 7ft ul 2 pc rod and the specs on the rod says 1/32 to 1/4oz, i am using mr crappie 4lb line and this rod will not cast a 1/32oz 30ft, this brings me to the question abut some specific rods, example i am looking at the lelands TCB which is 6ft6" or the sam heaton 7ft, unless i am missing something, now i never saw a TCB rod, but i cannot imagine it out casting my 7ft daiwa, am i missing something before i go and order a rod, i am thinking the 7ft sam heaton may be a better choice, i don't want to go over 7ft. so from experienced crappie fisherman what will get a 1/32oz lure better than my spinmatic
thanks

I have 5 Daiwa reels, and I like all of them.
I run 8 lb Mr Crappie yellow mono line, very happy with it. I saw my cousin using a different reel but a 7' Outlaw light action rod and 8lb Mr Crappie line land a 22 lb Flathead caught on a crappie jig. It took him 10 plus minutes but the line and rod were fantastic.
The problem is not the rod. Without fishing with you, I can't tell what the exact issue is, but it's not the rod.
I can cast 1/32 at least 50' with every outfit I own, from the cheapest to the most expensive.
Thinner line will increase distance as will a bigger reel spool.
I'm not a fan of Mr Crappie line, but your rod and reel sound fine to me. Maybe it's your technique:

Hi chetc,
Just curious as to how much line you are putting on your reel? IMO a spinning reel needs to be filled, for maximum casting distance.
I bought my husband a Richard Gene replica off of Amazon for his birthday last year, just on a lark, and he loves it. We are both dockshooters and use BnM Sharp shooters a lot but that eagle claw has become his go-to rod. We mainly use 1/24 jigs but 1/32 on occasion too. It has good strength and sensitivity, he just really likes the backbone. And it is pretty cheap!
The bigger the diameter of the spool on your reel, the easier it is to get distance casting due to larger, less tight coils.
