Sad Day!!! Hung up the crappie poles!!
Well, today was a sad day. I hung up all the crappie poles for the season and emptied the crappie gear from the boat. Now it is time to switch to bass and the occational night crappie trip. I had a great spring and it sounds like most of you did also. I always promise myself I will hit the crappie again in the fall but the deer call me to much at that time of the year. Hopefully I will stick to my promise and try some fall crappie but the big buck is pretty hard to refuse. I enjoyed talking to you guys all spring and hate the fact that I won't be watching this site everyday, like I do during the spring. Have a good summer everyone and be safe on the water.
Sad Days Indeed.........Until?

It was a sad day indeed for me too, Jigboy. I've read and heard of crappie fishermen who can catch them year round and I am determined to figure it out before I die. For now I am enjoying the gill fishing because I did not do worth a hoot with crappie this spring and the next best thing to a skillet full of crappie filets is a skillet full of bluegill:D . I am new to this board but I've been reading everyone's posts since early March and I hope to learn from you all so I can devote more of my year to the pursuit of crappie catchin'. I have been ruined by a few years I spent in Alabama in the eighties, catching 2-3 lb. crappie in the spring. I've got to at least figure out Ky. crappie fishing so I can have some to eat occasionally. I am curious about night fishing for crappie, how many batteries do you need and what kind of spot should you look for to set up in? I would consider trying this at Taylorsville sometime in June maybe.
